Sex & Nudity

  • Due to the censorship of the time, the heavy eroticism inherent in this story is entirely implied, and while the nudity is no worse than what could be seen on Gidget or Gilligan's Island, the suggestiveness is rampant. Lolita proposes a "game" to Humbert as he lies in bed, then the scene fades to black as she descends on him. She attends a camp named Camp Climax with her friend named Mona, and Humbert toys with a stuffed beaver there while surrounded by girls in bathing suits.
  • The main focus of this film is a middle-aged man who becomes sexually obsessed with a 14-year-old girl.
  • A man is nude in a bathtub, but only his bare chest is seen.
  • A brief camp scene shows some teenage girls in tight, one-piece swimsuits.

Violence & Gore

  • There was an accident where a woman was hit by a car. We don't see that in the movie but you see body with a coat over her face and part of her body... a sign that the whoever it was is dead.
  • A man is shot in the beginning of the movie, and it is implied that he dies.

Profanity

  • 1 use of jerk, oh god, stinking, stink, darn and oh gosh 2 uses of hell, brat and creep 3 uses of shut up and damn it

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters drink and smoke socially throughout the film.
  • Following a certain tragedy, a character is shown in a state of shock, in a bathtub, nursing a glass of wine. It is implied that he is drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Nothing
  • Many may find themselves uncomfortable with the idea of a middle-aged man attempting to go for a fourteen-year-old girl.
