What's The Point?

Warning: Spoilers
Like Dinosaur Adventure, I discovered this via YouTube. Both Dinosaur Adventure and this Return To Oz just seemed cheap. However, this Return To Oz (not to be confused with the far superior 1985 Return To Oz that is thankfully based on the sequel to the books rather than just being a rehash of the MGM movie like this one is) is at least better, even if it looks like a Tootsie Pop commercial. It has an cohesive story and the animation is less jerky (even if Toto appears to have three tails). Where it fails is in terms of script and story, as well as animation. The animation is still rather weird, such as Toto's three tails and munchkins that look more like gumdrops than anything else. Then there's the songs, there are close to 10 of them and they aren't of particularly good quality, more like ditties than songs. The duet between the witch and wizard is especially poor, made irritating by the fact that for some reason the wizard has a quirk that makes him repeat the last word of every sentence, which I'm guessing was supposed to be funny but it isn't. Finally, there's the story, which is not so much a sequel as it is a remake. That's the main problem with the movie: it's simply a rehash. Even the moral is the same: that Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion had brains, heart, and courage all along. While the animation doesn't exactly help, the main problem is the fact that it's simply a rehash rather than the sequel that it initially appears to be. It's not awful but there really was no point to it.

This was horrible!!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
1. Dorothy is horribly drawn compared to her design in the TV series. Her lack of a jawline and chin makes her look older than the actual old people.

2. This is inconsistent. One example, the scarecrow's head clearly filled with nothing but hay. Yet, he stupidly said that there was sawdust in there. But the biggest inconsistency was that the characters completely forgot about the first time.

3. This should have not have been "Return to Oz" but "Return from Oz." That way, the movie will be about the characters could travel to Glenda's palace for the fulfillment of their desires. Not only to pay homage to the book where the MGM movie did not, but also the travels to the wizard's and the witch's were not as adventurous in the TV series as they were in the book.
