This was the second of three cartoons to use the "modern" abstract Warner Bros. opening and closing sequences created by Chuck Jones; this sequence was previously used on Now Hear This and would be used once more in Señorella and the Glass Huarache, but in the closing sequence for this cartoon, the "O"s in CARTOON bounce three more times rather than stop at the moment the "N" appears as usual.
"Tippecanoe and Bartholomew" refers to "Tippecanoe and Tyler, Too," the 1840 presidential campaign slogan of William Henry Harrison and John Tyler (As of 2023, one of John Tyler's grandsons is still alive.).
Bartholomew's puppy bark sounds like Dino from the Flintstones. Both were voiced by Mel Blanc, whose native bearer here also sounds like Taz, the Tasmanian Devil (also done by the man of a thousand voices, Mel Blanc).
Bartholomew's tail is run over by an early version of what would become the Razor Scooter, and, later, the modern power scooter.
The ending credits feature the chimes of Big Ben, or a reasonable facsimile.
