Spoiler Alert: This article contains info on the season finale of Survivor 46.
It all came down to tonight’s finale to determine who in the Season 46 cast of Survivor would take home the $1 million top prize. A final Tribal Council was held, allowing the remaining players to plead their case for winning to the jury members.
The jury then voted for which player was the “Sole Survivor” to take home the show’s grand prize.
Tonight’s show saw Kenzie Petty as the winner of Survivor 46. Her friendly attitude served her well, as she beat her fellow final three contestants Charlie Davis and Ben Katzman by a vote of 5-3-0.
“Yeah, I got brought along on votes,” she told the jury in a spasm of honesty. “I’ll take it. I’ll own it. It’s true. I’m not going to say I drove a vote.”

We are moments away from the “Survivor 46” finale, and after a season of messy gameplay and no clear strategic frontrunner, it is confusing as ever as to who will ultimately win the title of Sole Survivor. In last week’s episode, “Mamma Bear,” one of the most visible, uproarious contestants of the season was eliminated, Q Burdette, leaving just the Top 5 contestants still in the game. Let’s break down this penultimate episode to determine who will come out on top in the final episode and where these remaining five players stand.
The week prior, many viewers were confused about Ben Katzman‘s stray vote for Kenzie Petty on what was a unanimous blindside of Venus Vafa and whether there was any strategic reason for it; turns out it was a moment of mental lapse after so many days in the game, but either way, it does not look good on him.

Survivor 46 revealed its final five on the latest episode, with Q Burdette getting eliminated in another blindside.
Earlier in that episode, Q found a Hidden Immunity Idol, giving him a clear path to the final five.
But Q decided he should save that Immunity Idol and became the latest jury member to be voted out without using his advantage.
This season, the Survivor 46 cast broke an embarrassing record, which might serve as a lesson to future casts.
Since Q didn’t play his Immunity Idol, his plan (with Maria Gonzalez) fell flat. Their votes for Charlie Davis didn’t matter.
Charlie barely survived the episode but did clinch a spot in the final five. And his family was extremely excited about it.

Director Randall Okita (See for Me) is back this year with new movie Menace, which was notably written by Thom Eberhardt, the writer of 1984 fan favorite Night of the Comet.
Variety reports this morning that IFC Films and Shudder have acquired the North American rights to the upcoming film, which is expected to see release sometime in 2025.
Isabel May (1883) will star in sci-fi horror movie Menace, which comes courtesy of Image Nation Abu Dhabi and the genre label Spooky Pictures. This is the third feature from Image Nation and Spooky Pictures, behind Watcher and Late Night with the Devil.
“The film follows a research student (Isabel May), who has a psychotic breakdown and is remanded to the custody of her aunt and uncle in a small town.
“There, strange things begin to transpire and people start disappearing, leaving her uncertain about what is real or what is simply a figment of her imagination.

In this week’s “Survivor 46” finale sneak peek video (watch above), Maria Shrime Gonzalez is well aware of the fact that she’s “on the bottom” of the tribe following last week’s episode. Remember, Maria and Q Burdette wrote down Charlie Davis‘s name at the most recent tribal council, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the four votes toward Q from Charlie, Ben Katzman, Liz Wilcox and Kenzie Petty. After Q’s ouster, Maria returns to camp completely deflated, though she still gives credit where credit is due to the others in the Final 5.
“Liz, you finally got your wish, to vote Q off,” says the 48-year-old parent coach from Dallas. Liz had been gunning for Q for weeks, even before he failed to take her on the Applebee’s reward, which infamously caused her to have an epic meltdown at a challenge.

CBS has released a bonus scene from Survivor 46. It comes from when the newly merged tribe came up with its name and painted the flag.
This scene was filmed on Day 15 of Survivor 46 before Tevin Davis got blindsided by the next Tribal Council vote.
It’s a drama-free scene that could have been good within an episode, but many scenes hit the cutting room floor each year.
The video also reveals what each castaway chose to represent them on the flag, with one person going a different route from everyone else.
When comparing this flag to hang-painted efforts from the past, the Survivor 46 cast certainly stands out. It’s a fun one.

Maryanne Oketch got married!
The Survivor 42 winner recently walked down the aisle with many alums in attendance.
It was during the Spring 2022 season that Survivor fans got to know Maryanne. She was highly energetic and outspoken, bringing a freshness to the reality competition show.
Many Survivor fans were shocked when Maryanne made it to the end of Survivor 42 after Romeo Escobar took her to that final Tribal Council.

At a time when nuclear anxiety was both real and common, Thom Eberhardt went against the grain and made a quirky genre movie about the end of the world. Of course, the catastrophic event shown in Night of the Comet wasn’t the result of unleashed weapons of mass destruction. No, this story’s obliteration of (most) life on Earth was brought on by a less obvious force: a passing comet on par with the one that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Hollywood and the like have never been opposed to putting fears of nuclear strike and fallout on screen, but nothing made back in the ‘80s quite compares to Eberhardt’s doomsday tale of two valley girls looking for signs of life in disaster-stricken SoCal.

Last week’s episode of Survivor was filled with drama as the Belo tribe saw one of their players eliminated during a tribal council.
The number of players is slowly whittling down and it’s only a matter of time before the merge happens, where only everyone comes together on 1 tribe.
In the end, only one will remain to claim the title of Sole Survivor and win the $1 million prize.
Tune in next week to see who gets sent home in another 90 minute episode of Survivor!

Week five was a stressful week of Survivor as the castaways were still getting used to their brand new tribes after they dropped their buffs and had to leave their old tribes behind.
This week, the Belo tribe lost the immunity challenge and was forced to go to tribal council.
This season of Survivor is “taking a deeper dive into the players’ stories as they’re stranded on the stunning islands of Fiji. Viewers will watch as castaways form a society and adapt to their physical and social surroundings while contending with treacherous new elements and navigating an ever-shifting social game. This determined group will be divided into three tribes of six and face a faster, grittier season from the moment they step on the beach. The moral dilemmas and extreme situations will test even the strongest competitor, and the mental and physical challenges require players to constantly evolve their strategies to survive another day.

The second season of Jeff Probst‘s popular “On Fire: The Official Survivor Podcast” debuts on September 27 immediately following CBS’s 90-minute premiere of “Survivor 45.” And this time around, the podcast is adding a past contestant to give insights from “the player’s point of view.” That person is Rick Devens, the fan-fave finalist who came in fourth place back in “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” the 38th season that aired in Spring 2019.
Devens joins Probst and podcast producer Jay Wolff for weekly deep dives into the Emmy-winning reality TV series. Since its debut in 2000, Survivor has been entertaining audiences all over the world. The show’s premise involves contestants being stranded on a deserted island and competing in challenges to win immunity, avoid elimination, and ultimately become the Sole Survivor.
One of the most thrilling aspects of the show is the Tribal Council, where contestants vote to eliminate a member of their tribe. Survivor host Jeff Probst recently revealed how the show’s team has come up with an ingenious way of building Tribal Councils.
The Tribal Council is one of the key components of every ‘Survivor’ episode
Since the Survivor premieretwo decades ago, Tribal Council has appeared in nearly every episode. It is inarguably the most important part of the show because this is when contestants have the opportunity to vote off their competitors. The Tribal Council usually takes place after a reward or immunity challenge, and the losing team must attend the council.

No one wants to be the first person voted out of Survivor, but every season, one castaway has to pay that price. Obviously, every Survivor contestant’s goal is to make it to the Final Tribal Council and win the grand prize. However, even if they aren’t the Sole Survivor, every player leaves the game with money in their pocket.

In a game of strategy and social bonds, challenge strength remains an important component in “Survivor” 20 years later. Opinion is split on how much value there is in Immunity Challenge wins, but more often than not, they have helped players beast their way to the end and even with the $1 million prize. Examples include Tom Westman (“Palau”), Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Kim Spradlin (“One World”) and Mike Holloway (“Worlds Apart”).
Other challenge beasts are able to win a bunch of challenges but just come up short in the end. Colby Donaldson is one of the original cases of this, and we have seen players like Ozzy Lusth, Terry Deitz, Spencer Bledsoe and Brad Culpepper do the same, without claiming the title of Sole Survivor. Then there are players like Joe Anglim, who are just so good at challenges that they must be voted out the minute they lose an Immunity Challenge.

By now, most rabid “Survivor” fans have heard the sad news that Season 41 of the granddaddy of all reality TV competitions will not be airing this fall. Initially host and executive producer Jeff Probst optimistically said last month after the rousing “Winners at War” edition of the show — when Tony Vlachos became only the second player to claim the title of Sole Survivor twice — that there may be a way to film in Fiji since the island did not have any outbreaks of Covid-19 at the time and only ever had 15 cases total.
A cast was selected in February and protocols were put into place so that the contestants and crew members would be tested for coronavirus once they arrived and then be quarantined for the mandatory 14 days. CBS even put out a promo for their fall schedule that included “Survivor.” But the news was too good to be true...

Survivor will take a look back at the past 20 (!) years as it approaches its milestone 40th season. The groundbreaking series will celebrate its upcoming 40th season with a one-hour special, Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players, set for Wednesday, February 5 at 8 Pm on CBS. The special will air a week ahead of the Season 40 premiere, a special two-hour episode, on Wednesday, February 12 at 8 Pm. The special was announced Sunday during CBS’ presentation at the TCA Winter Press Tour.
Hosted by Jeff Probst, the retrospective features new interviews with players from the past two decades, including previous winners Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), Amber Mariano (“All-Stars”), Jeremy Collins (“Second Chance”), Parvati Shallow (Fan vs. Favorites), and Ben Driebergen (“Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers”).
Survivor premiered May 31, 2000 and ultimately changed the television landscape. Since the first group of castaways were marooned on the beaches of Borneo 20 years ago, the game has evolved and adapted.

On “Survivor: Island of the Idols,” Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine — both considered among the best players of all time — have been sizing up the castaways as, one by one, they wash up on their beach in order to be mentored by the former champs.
On episode 7, they finally got a student who actually impressed the heck out of them in the form of Janet Carbin, a 59-year-old chief lifeguard from Palm Bay, Florida. Since the beginning, Janet avoided making the mistake of trying to mother the younger players like Reem Daly, 46, did on last season’s “Extinction Island.” Instead, she was congenial and accepting of her fellow players in their 20s and 30s.
Probably Janet’s biggest rival is the upbeat Elaine Stott, a 41-year-old factory worker who controlled the previous tribal council after getting instructions from Rob and Sandra about how to find a block-the-vote advantage during the immunity challenge.

Over the past two decades of “Survivor” there have been nearly 40 winners who outwitted, outplayed and outlasted their fellow competitors to take home the $1 million prize. However, let’s not forget all those lovable losers that made a huge impact on the game (and our hearts) but came up short of actually winning. Click through our “Survivor” photo gallery above highlighting the 21 greatest castaways who didn’t win. Do you agree or disagree with our writer Tom O’Brien‘s choices?
