In the opening of the movie, the drilling rig is shown being destroyed in the Atlantic Ocean yet Dr. Talty later says it was destroyed off the Texas coast. Unless the Texas border has vastly expanded in the time setting of the movie, Texas has no Atlantic Ocean coast.
An explosion is seen when the dozer drops onto Commander Patterson's aquafoil. Later, when we watch a video replay of the same accident, the explosion is missing.
In the fight scene between Adm. Matthews and Brett in the vault, Brett is thrown against a pile of gold bars, but the entire pile can be seen to start tipping over. Solid gold bars would be too heavy to be pushed over this way. Also, the pile tips without any individual blocks moving out of place, revealing this to be a prop wall, probably made of wood. All the other piles did not topple when pushed against.
When Dr. Aquila starts swimming to the aquafoil of CDR Patterson, his feet are hitting the surface of the water. This wouldn't be possible as Pacifica is several hundred feet beneath the surface.
The asteroid that hit the earth 65 million years ago was only about 6 miles across. An asteroid/planetoid 10 miles across made up of such dense matter would cause such devastation that most, if not all, life would be destroyed.
