Pamelyn Ferdin, who played Sally, has said that she found Paul difficult to work with. When she was asked at what point she no longer wanted to do the show, she said that she didn't even want to do the pilot. However, Ferdin enjoyed working on the show and frequently shares her experiences about it (and her many other projects) on social media.
Elizabeth Allen visited Washington, D.C., during a tour to promote the series. When told that the local ABC affiliate, WMAL-TV Channel 7 (now WJLA-TV), aired the series on weekend afternoons rather than in its scheduled prime time slot, she exclaimed rhetorically "How do they expect us to get good ratings?!"
According to the Record (Troy, NY) 21 October 1972, the series had it's origins in a failed 1958 Broadway show called "Howie". In 1962 a pilot was filmed based on the show, which also flopped.
The writers had a motto: "when in doubt, fall in the pool."
