Sex & Nudity

  • Wife flirts with people and compliments a woman's "a**"
  • A drunk woman is taken home by a man. He carries her passed-out body inside and forces himself on her. Rape is implied.
  • The two leads kiss and are seen clothed in bed (sex not implied).
  • No nudity, except for some children as they change into costume. The naked children in the film were children of the crew members and cast and the context of the scene is not at all sexual.

Violence & Gore

  • A man slaps his wife in front of their children; he does appear to regret it afterwards. He is depicted as a hot head who has difficulty properly expressing his emotions.
  • The same man gets into a brief fist fight with another man and threatens the life of another.
  • The same man punches his wife across the face (to snap her out of a trance) near the end.

Profanity

  • One F word; several S-words and SOBs, GDs are used.
  • Two racial slurs towards an Indian / Mexican man

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drugs: None
  • The heroine is drunk in one scene and is accused of being a drinker.
  • A man drinks beer and lets his children have a few sips. He nor they get drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The film can be extremely stressful and hard to watch to many viewers, due to it's hardcore realism.
  • A rather tense, twenty-minute scene depicts the heroine being committed. She behaves increasingly erratic and neurotic until she begins having a nervous breakdown. Her husband has to pry her young children out of her arms as she defensively clings to them.
  • A similar scene plays out again near the end but it ends well and the heroine recovers.
