Just purchased the DVD...gosh, it brings it all back...

I watched this when I was younger, and it left a lasting impression on me. I always remembered the theme tune, which was rather catchy. I just purchased the newly released DVD, which I must say has dated somewhat. The sets look sparse, some of the acting, limited to say the least. But this for me, all adds to the magic of the show! I love it! Any ideas on how I can get the theme tune? Very funky. Recommend the DVD also, 12 episodes and quite good extras! My favourites were Paula Duncan and Gwen Plum, who went onto star in the VERY UNDERATTED Richmond Hill in 1988. It was just funny to see the stars looking younger and less experienced. Another favourite was Peita Toppano, who went onto play Karen Travvers in my Fav Prisoner: Cell Block H

Defining the Essence of The Young Doctors.....
vaughan-wayne6 May 2005
A classic example of endearing, heart - warming 70s serial drama, the charm of The Young Doctors was undoubtedly in its resurgent, ongoing optimism and engaging, yet simplistic story lines and a refreshingly upbeat and idealistic tone that mirrored the era. Conversely, its confined sets added to its appeal in an unassuming, elementary manner whereby somehow familiarity brought forth reassurance. The show exhibited an unfailing attribute to leave the viewer invariably in more cheerful mood at the end of each episode. An array of likable characters formed the backbone to this series, many of whom remained loyal throughout its scheduled run between 1976 and 1982. At the conclusion of its transmission in Australia, it became the country's longest - running serial, although this has subsequently been superseded by Neighbours. A genuinely tearful, evocative last episode typified the warmth and affection of the programme. The series was broadcast in the United Kingdom across the ITV Network in the afternoon, attracting a loyal audience. Increasingly, it represented a pleasing contrast to the arrival of acerbic 80s cynicism.
