Amy Heckerling's debut as a director and writer.
The bathroom set for this film was built with false walls within the billiard room of the Doheny mansion in Los Angeles. (That same billiard room, and the adjoining 2-lane bowling alley, were also used in the film There Will Be Blood (2007) for a very bloody murder scene.) The dorm room set for Getting It Over With was constructed within another, larger room in the Doheny mansion as well, as the mansion was then used by the American Film Institute.
