In the Midi region of southern France (where the film takes place) 'une drôlesse' means 'a little girl'. In the rest of France it's generally translated as 'a woman of loose morals' - hence the mistranslation 'hussy'.
This is the only film Madeleine Desdevises would ever star in. She was eleven and twelve at the time of production, and died three years later from a case of misdiagnosed leukemia.
