If you like Euro-trash, you just hit the mother load!
Nightman8520 May 2008
Italian 'sequel' to the 1978 sleeper hit Patrick isn't so much a sequel as it is a very lurid remake.

Road-side prank leaves young man in a coma. Now, his doctor father has lured a band of suspects to his isolated house so that the comatose victim's telekinetic powers can reek some bloody revenge upon them.

To say that this film is trashy is simply an understatement. Patrick vive ancora drives both sleaze and gore to extremes that are rarely seen in the genre. In fact the story and the cast take a back-seat to some of this ballsy action! Our cast is obviously not afraid to show some skin. The telepathic murders are gruesome indeed - who could ever forget that scene with the fire poker, talk about your phallic imagery!! Need I say more?

For those seeking an intelligent and brooding lost thriller, watch the original Patrick (1978), but those that enjoy sleazy B horror must see this film to believe it! Adults only, and I mean those that are exploitation fans!

Patrick Still Cracks A Fatty
Bezenby3 March 2019
Where to start with this one? It's a kind of sequel to an Australian film called Patrick, which had a comatose man killing people telepathically. It's been years since I've watched that one but I don't remember it being the most action packed film. The Italian version of this certainly ups it in every department. And then some.

In this one, Patrick is with his father beside a broken down car when someone tosses a bottle from a passing car and hits Patrick directly in the face. As with most head injuries, this causes Patrick to fall into a coma, but also gives him psychic abilities. Don't worry, it gets even more absurd from here on in.

Patrick is now a vegetable staring into space, but also somehow hooked up to three people who are also in comas. If this was explained, I must have missed it, but what I reckon was these three were being used to somehow telepathically link Patrick up to...no, it's gone. Let's get to the victims instead.

Six people have been invited to this mysterious villa, and you'll hate all of them on site. There's the Cough family (that's what the subtitles say), who consist of an alcoholic politician and his top heavy wife, then there's Mariangela Giordano and her drug dealing boyfriend, and then there's a cool-headed stranger and last but not least, a blonde woman whom I thought actually worked for Patrick's dad, but upon reflection I don't have a clue.

Everyone's there for some reason, but there's no time to explain as everyone has to get naked first. Mrs Cough breaks out her fat rascals for no reason at all while Mariangela Giordano just goes straight ahead for some topless sunbathing, while making kissy faces at the stranger. The blonde isn't doing too well as Patrick seems to be hypnotising her and making her go to his room which eventually results in an eye-poppingly sleazy scene. Hey! You're not blonde at all!

This film is packed from start to finish with nudity (male and female) but wouldn't be worth watching if those horror elements weren't in there at all. Patrick starts bumping off the guests, starting with Mr Cough who gets boiled alive in a swimming pool, then things escalate to include impalements, beheadings, and Mariangela Giordani getting the Vlad the Impaler treatment. If you compare that with her death in Mario Landi's Giallo E Venezia, you'd be forgiven for thinking either Landi or Giodani had some sort of fetish. My money's on Gioradni, if we take in that scene from Burial Ground.

I'm guessing the only reason this gore splattered, nudity filled madness didn't get banned by the BBFC is because it probably wasn't released in the UK. It's crappily made, has terrible special effects, but still delivers 100% trash goodness.

Very sick and totally insane!
Coventry1 December 2005
Ah, the wonders of exploitation cinema… For reasons incomprehensible to the normal-functioning human mind, director Mario Landi decided to make an extremely gory and sleazy Italian sequel to a tame and almost bloodless Australian thriller. "Patrick Still Lives" hence became one of the poorest and most pointless movies ever, with an ultra-thin and laughable storyline, absolutely no tension and secondhand sets & scenery. The good news, however, is that it also ranks as one of the sickest and most misogynistic productions ever, which then again makes the ultimate "wanna-have" for avid cult collectors. That's horror fan logic for ya! Professor and private-clinic owner Herschell is looking for the person responsible for his son's eternal coma and therefore he lures a bunch of weird people to his estate. Patrick lives like a vegetable but he can still count on his telekinetic powers to violently kill everyone within a close range and thus all the guests die in horrid ways, whether they're guilty of anything or not. These murders are clearly intended to come across as nasty and extremely mean-spirited but the make up effects are cheap, so the movie never at one point feels disturbing. The goofiest thing definitely is the complete lack of structure! The male character of which I thought he'd be the surviving hero is one the first to die and there isn't even a real ending to the story. In case the clinic location looks familiar to you, it means you watch way too many crappy movies like this! The same mansion was used in Andrea Bianchi's "Burial Ground". Both movies were scripted (if you can call it that) by Piero Regnoli and they also share a lead actress! Mariangela Giordano, who has a poker stuffed up her vagina, is the same woman whose boob got bitten off in "Burial Ground". Somehow, her entire career seems to revolve on her intimate parts! "Patrick Still Lives" is warmly recommended to all you sick puppies out there.

Sordid and scary exploitation movie with disagreeable and shocking scenes
ma-cortes22 November 2021
A thrilling and disturbing film with mostly Italian actors as Sacha Pitoëff , Gianni Dei , Mariangela Giordano, Carmen Russo about a young who is wounded in a roadside incident and is in a coma developing strange powers and resulting a weird effect on the people . It stars Patrick (Giani Dei) , a young man whose father (Sacha Pittoeff) runs an isolated spa . Five people receive an anonymous letter revealing a secret of theirs and inviting them to come stay at a mansion that houses a clinic run by the mysterious doctor who experiments on the brain of his comatose son. As five people arrive at the clinic : a corrupt politician called Lyndon Kraft (Franco Silva) , his wife ,Cheryl (Carmen Russo) , an ex-model, who sleeps in different rooms , a swimming star , David who's the son of a wealthy investor , and a tough-talking man , Peter (John Benedy) and woman, Stella (Mariangela Giordano) who arrive together but sleep in separate rooms . They're greeted by Lydia Grant (Andrea Belfiore) , the doctor's new assistant . A bit later on , Patrick begins to exhibit bizarre phenomenon , as he is in bed , wired to three comatose bodies and suddenly using his psychic powers he comes in contact with . He starts by sending his messages on a nernearby typewriter but gets violent when he perceives certain people as his harassed contenders , then executing a bloody vendetta , ensuing a blood feast . Later on , one by one , the guests get killed . The comatose hospital patient harasses and kills through his powers of telekinesis. Does Patrick have feelings? . Patrick is Nearly Dead ... And Still He Kills! . Some people thought he was insane, He appeared to be deaf, dumb and blind, None of them knew of the sixth sense: The power of PATRICK'S mind ! .Patrick doesn't need his body anymore. He'll scare the hell out of you. Acclaimed or panned by moviegoers and critics everywhere !. Patrick has a way with people . His way. Or else. The Italian killer-in-a-coma exploitation classic!.

Thunderously overwhrought pile of Grand Guignol horror and displaying a lot of slaughter , mayhem , sickening images and poltergeister with Patrick's considerable telekinesis talents . It is one of the nastiest , sleaziest and most brutal gore flicks ever produced in Italy . Including several nude women suffering grim , terrible and gory comeuppances and leaving nothing to the imagination . The plot is well known , plain and simple : a young has secret amazing powers to move things with her mind , and making her angry could prove to be deadly . While the original Australian film ¨Patrick¨ (1978) by Richard Franklyn had some of violence but nothing really bloody , this Patrick vive ancora (1980) nearly no connection to its predecessor , being really a crazy exploitation from Italy . Resulting to be an exercise in pure depravity with special mention for a female character being stalked by a metal pole and through the use of viewers are treated to all manner of sexual shenanigans, and some really grisly scenes of carnage , including two viciously barking dogs devouring a woman . A sickening , totally incompetent , an absolute insult to good taste , especially the horrible frames about a vicious wife stabbed in the crotch , which qualifies Patrick still alive for an extremely elevated sleaziness . That's why it's rated NC-17 or R due to extreme graphic violence , continuous full male and female nudity, adding strong sexual scenes , language and many other things. Mediocre main and support cast with full of gorgeous naked women , such as : Mariangela Giordano , Carmen Russo , Anna Veneziano and Andrea Belfiore . And Gianni Dei as the young Patrick laying comatose in a small private hospital while giving a unsettling and disturbing appearance .

This horror-thriller was lousily directed by Mario Landi , although marketed as straight sequel to the Ozzy terror "Patrick" , it has little to do with the former movie . Landi was an Italian craftsman from the Fifties , directing acceptable dramas and comedies such as ¨Siamo tutti Milanes¨ , ¨Canzoni per le strade¨ , ¨Maigret at the Pigalle¨, ¨Jacob and Esau¨ played by notorious European actors as Ugo Tognazzi, Walter Chiari , Gino Cervi , Raymond Pellegrin , Fosco Giachetti , Ken Clark, Massimo Serato . However, in the Seventies he moved to explotiation , grim terror , sex comedy and softcore , such as : ¨Batton Story¨ , ¨Il Viziaccio¨, ¨Supersexy Market¨ , and the extremely gory Giallo : ¨Giallo a Venezia¨ made in similar style to ¨Patrick still lives¨ . Rating . 3.5/10. Below average, no for squeamish .

our sleaze factor goes up to 11
movieman_kev17 February 2005
Patrick the comatose invalid with mind powers is back in this in-name-only sequel to the Austailian telekinesis snooze-fest "Patrick". This one starts of as boringly as the original, but thankfully the sleaze of this film's final hour has replaced the yawns of the first one. Not for the squeamish, but gore wise it's definitely no worse than the atrocious "Gunia Pig" movies, although one scene in particular is hard to stomach even for more seasoned gore-hounds. I'll put it this way, if you find yourself slumming for low-grade horror, you could do worse. But you could do a lot better as well.

My Grade: C+

DVD Extras: Interview with Gabriele Crisanti; interview with Gianni Dei; Slide Gallery; Theatrical Trailer; Trailers for "Else Freuline SS", "Eaten Alive", and "Lizard in a Womans' Skin"

Eye Candy: Mariangela Giordano, Carmen Russo and Anna Veneziano each bare all

Telekinetic sleaze
Dr. Gore10 May 2003
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT*

I bought this DVD having absolutely no idea what the movie was about. All I knew was that it was about a guy with telekinetic powers and that it was supposed to be sleazy. I don't need to know much.

Patrick is in a coma. He has telekinetic powers. A bunch of people end up at the wellness center where Patrick is staying. We get the impression that they were invited there by someone with an ulterior motive. I use the word impression because the plot is a bit hazy. There's a scene about an hour into the movie where the head doctor explains the plot to Patrick and to the audience. It then becomes clear why these people are here and what Patrick has to do with it. He wants to hurt these people who have come to the center. There are three men and four women. All the women are hot. I had a good feeling they were going to get naked. I was not disappointed.

I sat there wondering how this movie was going to earn its sleaze reputation. Was Patrick going to zap off the ladies clothes? Was he going to make them get naked with each other? What nasty tricks did Patrick have up his comatose sleeve?

There are three sleazy scenes. One scene pole-vaults over the top bar and earns a 10 from this sleaze judge. It involves a naked woman and a horny fire poker. Bravo! Another scene involves a Patrick induced masturbation. I'd rate that one an 8.5. The last sleazoid scene has a couple of dogs becoming famished when they smell a naked woman. Score that scene a six.

"Patrick Still Lives" is certainly not a good movie. There is no hero, no likeable characters nor does the flick make much sense. But it has three scenes of sublime sleaze. There are some other gory scenes as well which makes this flick worth watching once.

Ultra-sleaze
rundbauchdodo25 September 2000
This inofficial sequel to the "über-boring" Australian wannabe-thriller "Patrick" is one of the sleaziest movies ever made. Hardly surprising if you take a look at the director's name: Mario Landi, the director of the even sleazier "Giallo a Venezia". Landi delivers lots of naked (female) flesh, lots of senseless dialogue and plenty of gratuitous gore-scenes. The dubious highlight: A woman gets impaled from her genitalia upwards through her mouth. Sounds sick, eh? But the effects - the afore mentioned one in particular - are so badly executed that their impact equals zero. All in all a tedious waste of time, even in the rare uncut version. 3 out of 10, though.

Turn off your bourgeois needs and expect an amazing experience
migarsenio9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Movies that are about nothing can also be about everything. The narrative structure of "Patrick Vive Ancora" is so vague and free that for a long time it is difficult to decipher what is going on or predict what will come next. It is known from an early stage that there is a sinister doctor who receives in his house two couples to visit, when in his office are also a few bodies in a comatose state. This idea of bringing together a few people in the same house, to spend a few days together, naturally has a lot to do with classic horror cinema, but its Italian branching, with its ceremonial quality, seems to have a special taste for exploring it. "Patrick Vive Ancora" contemplates the behavior of the people in the house, as they get to know each other and witness some strange occurrences, but for at least an hour, we are not entitled to very concrete information about what all those people are doing there. Fortunately the Italians have a formidable talent for their films to entertain even when there is not much happening. It's a talent that comes in pairs, if you know what I mean. Somehow, "Patrick Vive Ancora", like the most enigmatic Italian cinema, is an invitation to disconnect from that very bourgeois need to find an explanation for everything. I think the little I understood about it was decisive to have liked what I saw.

Probably the most INSANE sequel EVER!
Vomitron_G20 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Those Italians. You gotta hand it to them. When they decide to do (unofficial) sequels or shameless rip-offs, they always have to exaggerate things. Look at, for example, Fulci's ZOMBI 2 or the countless JAWS rip-offs. But in a way, to us horror-buffs, that's a good thing. So here we have PATRICK VIVE ANCORA, an unofficial sequel to the effective but bloodless Australian(!) psycho-thriller PATRICK. You can say that it's a sequel in name only, 'cause the prologue to this completely retarded plot shows us Patrick's suddenly living in Italy, having a freak accident and going into a coma. The film-makers not only completely ignore the events in the previous film, they also replace Robert Thompson, who originally played Patrick, by a different Italian actor. I expected no less, to be honest. The rest of this insanely demented plot goes like this. Patricks lies in a coma in a big mansion. Daddy invites a bunch of strangers into the mansion. Patrick uses psychokinetic powers to kill them all. Why? Supposedly one of the guests was responsible for his accident. Do we find out who? No. Does the story have a point? No. Does this movie end? Yes. How? They ran out of film.

But I gotta tell ya one thing: This movie hits 10 out of 10 on the sleaze & gore-o-meter. Director Mario Landi succeeds with only one film in what Jess Franco couldn't even accomplish throughout his whole career: The perfect mix between sleaze and gore. You gotta see this to believe it. If you're under 18 years of age, you have to stop reading NOW!!! All the women run around naked for apparently no reason. One chick even gratuitously masturbates under the mental influence of Patrick. Then there's the gore. There's plenty and it looks cheap but it's loads of fun. The highlight is undoubtedly the 'impalement-through-vagina'-scene. And since all you sick puppies liked it so much ('cause I read about it in almost every single comment), I'm gonna list you some other movies containing scenes which show different ways on how to mutilate a vagina: Lucio Fulci's THE NEW YORK RIPPER, Ruggero Deodato's CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, Buddy Cooper's THE MUTILATOR, Pierre B. Reinhard's THE REVENGE OF THE LIVING DEAD GIRLS and Andreas Schnaas' VIOLENT SH!T II. Lucio Fulci's RIPPER and Deodato's HOLOCAUST are the only "good" movies and Andreas Schnaas piece of excrements should be banned, 'cause that guy's so deranged he belongs in a mental hospital. Woow, I'm getting pretty offensive here. But so are those movies.

Anyway, back to PATRICK VIVE ANCORA. Like I said: Highly recommended for sleaze & gore-fans but also for lovers of extremely bad and pointless movies. Because it's insane and hilarious. Just look when those big eyes on a green background with the psychedelic sounds come on. Ooooooooh scary! Unbelievable! So much fun, but a cinematographic masterpiece this ain't. But, excuse me now, I'm off in search for Landi's GIALLO A VENEZIA.

Gory and over the top sequel to a boring Australian thriller
The_Void18 November 2008
Patrick Still Lives is a curious piece of cult cinema; not for its content, but merely for the fact that it was made. Patrick was an obscure (and rather boring) Australian thriller released in 1978 and I doubt even the makers of it would have planned a sequel; but for some reason Giallo a Venezia director Mario Landi saw fit to direct a (presumably) unofficial sequel to it anyway. I have no idea what the actual reasons are for this film being made; but given Italy's film-making record, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that this film started life as merely a thriller about a comatose patient with telekinetic powers and ended as a 'sequel' to Patrick simply to cash in on the title. Anyway, the plot here is just as thin as it was in the original film and focuses on a comatose patient named Patrick. He may be in a coma but this doesn't stop him killing as he has telekinetic powers, and the guests staying at his father's spa soon find themselves becoming victim to Patrick's murderous rage.

All in all, it really has to be said that Patrick Still Lives isn't very good. However, it is fun in places; and Mario Landi has proved once and for all that films about murderous comatose patients are much better when they feature a bunch of gory death scenes. Most of the death scenes in this film are ridiculous, but at least the director doesn't hold back and we get treated to a range of grisly ways for the main characters to die. As anyone who has seen Giallo a Venezia will expect, much of it is of the misogynistic variety; with one death scene in particular, which sees one of the ladies have a poker rammed up her vagina (in a really rather bizarre scene that has to be seen to be believed!) being a major standout. Nudity is strongly featured also, most of it from the female cast members. Outside of the nudity and gore, there's not a great deal to like here to be honest. The film is not badly put together and the director shows some interesting use of colour, but the plot is pretty much nonexistent and much of the film is just padding for the death scenes. But hey, I love this stuff and despite its numerous problems, I'm going to give it a thumbs up anyway.

Vulgar, yet tame.
Ky-D24 June 2005
Bearing little of no relation to to the late 70's flick 'Patrick', this exercise in exploitation tries to deliver the goods, only to be impeded by it's own intentions.

Patrick is a kid (by kid I mean a guy who looks to be in his 30's) stuck in a kind of waking comma, unable to move or speak, yet fully sentient of the world around (and not around) him. His mostly insane father seeks to avenge/rectify the condition his son is in and sets up a secret laboratory for research and invites a group of people to his estate to test the powers his damaged son now possesses.

Pretty much from the start it's clear this isn't going to be a good movie per say, but should work fairly well as exploitation. It gives it the old college try, but consistently comes up short.

Problems begin with the script, which keeps afloat about as well as a brick. Plotting is wrong headed and scenarios never approach believable, even by genre standards. The characters are stupid, and I don't mean the average garden variety horror movie retards; I'm talking about some of the most brain dead specimens in all of film. So inept are the characters that even with full motor control and verbal abilities, they still seem more dysfunctional than poor crippled Patrick.

Writing has never been the strong suit in these kinds of films, so that could be forgiven if the fan service is up and running. It is, kind of, but not enough to save this effort. Clever and creative deaths are marred by all around cheesy FX and gore. The film's key-note shock scene, a bit where a woman gets impaled through her genitals, sounds more shocking than it really is, as the cut-away dummy used looks so fake as to induce chuckles rather than shrieks. The rest of the deaths suffer a similar fate; creatively staged and imagined, poorly designed and executed (pun not intended).

The rest of the technical aspects are par for the course; schlocky acting, cheesy dialogue, and acceptable if all together limp direction. The only saving grace is the notable presence of gobs of full-frontal (mostly all female) nudity.

Serious fan of exploitation will garner the most mileage out of this puppy to be certain, everyone else should just pass right by.

Inspirationally Sleazy!!!
revoltacs10 December 2005
As someone who has recently begun delving into the genre of exploitation movies of the 70's and 80's I must say this ranks as one of the best I've seen. The sleaziness in this movie is excellent! Three gorgeous babes that bare it all! A erotic masturbation scene that is more arousing than 99.9% of the porn seen today! A truly exotic death sequence! A sexy catfight! A sexy babe in love with dogs! Hilariously funny dialogue (see Patrick's fathers' explanation of the first death) and scenes (see Mr. Lewis' death by hook). All this makes up for a truly outrageous and entertaining movie for any fan of the sleazy exploitation genre. The filmmakers here fully achieve what they set out to do and deserve congratulations.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO KILL
nogodnomasters26 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Patrick (Gianni Dei) while standing along side of the road gets red liquid thrown in his face and goes into a lifetime coma. He is treated by his father Dr. Hershel (Sacha Pitoëff) at a private vacation villa and hospital. Five guests show up in the off season. The doctor has his coma patients connected to a large machine with a meter with red and green lights that plays 50's eerie sci-fi music. Patrick is able to control people and things through his super imposed eyes (see DVD cover) . Visitors are killed by Patrick and bad special effects.

This is the Italian film that the later 2013 blockbuster "Patrick" was based upon, although they give it no credit. As far as a horror film goes, the newer English version is far superior. However if gratuitous nudity is what you crave this one smokes the new one. I saw the general release edition which used any inane way to get a nude scene. There is an uncut version available that I haven't seen, although I can't imagine there be much more than the full frontal nudity already in this one.

Not much of a sci-fi horror. 6 stars for the nudity (Mariangela Giordano, Carmen Russo, Anna Veneziano, Andrea Belfiore)

Trashiest Italian Eurocult flick
Maciste_Brother15 January 2020
I've seen nearly every Italian movie made from the 1970s to the late 80s and I have to say that this 'movie' is the trashiest of them all. Even trashier than CALIGULA-type of movie, including CALIGULA 2: THE UNTOLD STORY. The movie is excruciatingly boring: people walk in the dark, walk across a vast estate, they walk here and there. There are some scenes where there are more than one actor present but the bulk of the movie is made of scenes (seemingly disjointed) of a person, alone and in the dark and getting killed. It's boring. The makers of the movie decided to have the entire female cast take their clothes off at one point, including a naked woman who is mauled and eaten to death by dogs. The nudity, while okay is small doses, sorta becomes funny in this kamikaze style amount seen here. There's only one brief nude scene involving a male actor. The casting process must have been funny.

Actress: Hi, I'd like to act in this movie

Producer: You'll have to take your clothes off.

Actress: Okay. That's it?

Producer: Yes!

Actress: Okay.

Yep, that's it. The 'movie' is supposed to be an unofficial sequel to the sleeper hit PATRICK but it's a sequel in name only. The death scenes are hilarious. A man decides to take a swim in a pool at night. As Patrick's supernatural powers target the man, the trees around the pool shake wildly. Why? I dunno. It's meant to show the 'power' of Patrick but what do trees have to do with his powers? It's dumb. Why is Patrick's room always brightly lit? I know he's in a coma but the light in his room is always on, shining directly in his eyes. Again, it's stupid. If people are invited to a mansion and they start dying off one by one, why do people stay? The poker through the vagina scene is not that memorable except for the trashiness of it all. Anyway, I could go on and on about it. Can you imagine the premiere of this movie and everyone involved attending it and watching what they agreed upon?

100% Nutty Exploitation from Italy!
Michael_Elliott12 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Patrick Still Lives (1980)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Patrick is standing by the side of the road when a speeding van passes by and someone throws a bottle out. It hits Patrick in the head and soon he is in a coma. His doctor father attached him to some weird machines and soon he's using mental powers to kill a bunch of people staying at a nearby resort.

PATRICK STILL LIVES comes from Italy and is a fake sequel to the 1978 Australian film PATRICK. If you've seen that movie then you might agree that it was a well-made film but at the same time it was rather boring and didn't feature enough action to keep it moving. This Italian film on the other hand isn't all that well-made but it's so crazy, so over-the-top and silly that one can't help but love it for its exploitation gold.

It should be noted that the producer, screenwriter and one of the actors would follow this film with BURIAL GROUND: NIGHTS OF TERROR. If you're familiar with that nutty zombie film then you'll be happy to know that this movie here is just as stupid and crazy. The only difference is that this film doesn't feature a creepy kid. This movie does feature wall-to-wall madness in the form of non-stop nudity. There are four beautiful ladies in the cast and all of them strip completely nude and leave nothing to the imagination. My research has shown that any sort of bad filmmaking can be resolved with beautiful Italian women in the nude.

Not only do we get non-stop nudity from the beautiful actresses but there are also some crazy death scenes. When I say crazy I do mean crazy including one that has a female character being stalked by a metal pole and guess what happens when she crawls up on a table and spreads her legs? You can guess it. A more detailed effect of what we saw in CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. Mariangela Giordano, from BURIAL GROUND, has a part here as does the beautiful Carmen Russo who is drop-dead gorgeous and the story tries to sell it that her husband isn't into her sexually. Right.

PATRICK STILL LIVES isn't a classic film by any stretch of the imagination but it's pure Italian trash and comes highly recommended.

Patrick still lives (1980)

It's meant to be some kind of Italy sequel./remake to 1978 Patrick movie

Partick talking to dad who in car and then passing car Thorws something out of it and makes his face bleed.

Which sends him into a coma and then start to use is power to kill off everyone with telekinetic powers in that same building were he is being kept.

This movie well, it didn't take to long start, the movie way to sleazy, far to much nudity in this movie, I don't mind some.

Some of death scene were decent and some very bloody ones and but with to much nudity and some-what gory deaths.

The movie was not creepy and 1978 one, Its spent to much time on others, I wanted more time with Patrick.

I didn't really like the eye effects in this movie at all,

It reminded me a little bit of Thriller: A Cruel Picture mixed with Patrick
kevin_robbins31 August 2022
Patrick Still Lives (1980) is an Italian horror movie that I recently watched on a random streaming service. The storyline for this picture involves a young man who has an accident and is left in a coma. His father takes care of him in a clinic wing of his mansion. One day the father invites over five guests who are about to discover there's something special about the young man.

This movie is directed by Mario Landi (Giallo in Venice) and stars Sacha Pitoëff (Inferno), Gianni Dei (The Sins of Madame Bovary), Mariangela Giordano (Vengeance), Carmen Russo (The Porno Killer) and Andrea Belfiore (Blow Job).

This movie is absolutely wild. This has tremendous European ladies with a plethora of nudity, random bathing suits popping off and lots and soft porn elements. There's also remarkable horror elements starting with the opening accident and surgery scene. There's a crazy slap scene in this that happens to a girl wearing no underwear that surprised me. The props were really good and the special effects were well done, though the bleeding vagina was a bit much.

Overall this is a very unique film from this era that is a bit underrated and a must see. It reminded me a little bit of Thriller: A Cruel Picture mixed with Patrick. I would score this 6.5/10 and strongly recommend it.

One gory scene is not enough
ruediger_vienna18 August 2004
Warning: Spoilers
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

The Plot: Patrick is comatose, his father tries to cure him by giving him the chance to kill using supernatural powers (exactly what one would expect); the victims are invited to a beautiful house in the countryside, Patrick kills some of them - with the major exception of a blonde women, who masturbates in front of him. (which is btw the sole way to survive, in case you see green eyes - big like tennis balls - wobbling in front of you, you know)

Patrick vive ancora is a quite uninspired movie. There are several killing scenes, mostly below the giallo standard, the only real climax is the controversial staking (vagina to mouth), which is very explicit and not cut at all (mediablaster/shriek show DVD edition).

See this scene, be shocked or amused, call for the censor or the Chinese delivery, and skip the rest of the movie.

Except you are the sole fan of supernatural-sado-porn-scifi-giallos.

If so - get it at any costs.

3 black gloves out of 10.

Patrick Lives?
Oslo_Jargo31 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
*** This review may contain spoilers ***

*Plot and ending analyzed*

Patrick Still Lives could have been an interesting concept, but it is a tedious bore since they do nothing with the premise. It is an Italian horror film, so they ripped someone off, the case being here, Patrick (1978) from Australia. Patrick (1978) was a creepy film I remember. Patrick Still Lives says it is a sequel, but don't be mislead. It is a padding time of one hour and a few nude scenes and horror scenes with green eyes superimposed on the screen. That's pretty much it. Even the nudity can't carry this boring film.

The corny premise is that a doctor, whose son, Patrick, who got tagged by someone in a car with a bottle, is out for revenge. He invites some dull people to a villa where he has three living specimens on tables who are engaging Patrick, who is on another bed, with psychical energy.

The problem with the film is that nothing happens at all, the people talk us to death, and there's no sense of horror at all.

Patrick (2013) was even worse, substituting the boring scenes with boring CGI images.

Strange (But Fun...) Italian Sleaze-Fest
EVOL66627 December 2005
Mario Landi's PATRICK STILL LIVES is a weird little film that is weak on pretty much every level - but still manages to be entertaining and pretty fun to watch...

Patrick is the victim of an unfortunate (and kinda hilarious...)accident: while standing by the side of the road, he's randomly hit in the face with a bottle that a passing motorist chucks out of his window, leaving poor Patrick in a coma, but with telekinetic powers (!!??!!) Patrick's scientist father owns a villa with a lab in the basement where he conducts experiments to strengthen Patrick's mind powers so that he can one day seek revenge for his condition. Dad lures several people to his villa with the intention of letting vegetable-boy wreak some havoc. This eventually does happen and the results are pretty rewarding...

PATRICK STILL LIVES is a pretty good example of classic 70's/80's exploitation sleaze. Plenty of tits and ass (including a pretty hot masturbation scene from a sexy - if a little too "bushy" for my taste - blonde), and some decent gore, including: a man hung by his throat from a hook, a woman eaten by dogs, another woman decapitated but a car window, and the "famous" graphic vaginal-impalement-via-fire-poker. This one in particular is a keeper, as I was surprised that they showed this scene as "up-close and personal" as they did. PATRICK has some of the most ridiculous dialog ("It's obvious that Mr. Cough's cause of death was from a fatality..." (?????)), a retarded and threadbare plot, pretty stupid FX (the "floating-hypnotic-eyeballs" come to mind...), and atrocious acting. Regardless, or possibly because of these things, I still got a kick out of this one. I have a soft spot for these types of 70's/80's shock/schlock films - and this one is another perfect example. If you're looking for high-art, you can leave this one on the shelf. If you like tit's, ass, furry bush, and gore - I'd recommend this one pretty highly. 8/10

Bed-ridden but deadly.
BA_Harrison11 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
There really is no hope for coma patient Patrick Herschell (Gianni Dei): if he doesn't snap out of his catatonic state while gorgeous blonde secretary Lydia Grant (Andrea Belfiore), the object of his lust, feverishly masturbates mere inches from his face, then he never will!

For several years now, poor Patrick has been a prisoner of his bed, unable to do anything but stare at the ceiling; he's been that way ever since a careless litter-lout threw a bottle from the window of a passing car, hitting him squarely in the face. While caring for his son, Patrick's father (Sacha Pitoëff), eminent professor and owner of a posh health clinic, has devised a system that allows his son to project his thoughts and move objects at will. With this incredible power, Patrick is able to vent his frustration and anger on the group of people currently staying at the clinic, one of whom may be the person responsible for his inability to do anything but perspire while a total babe is frottering against his bedstead.

Although often referred to as an 'unofficial sequel' to 1978 Aussie psychic chiller Patrick, the plot for this exploitative, gory and sexually explicit trash-fest from director Mario Landi is completely unconnected to that movie; Landi simply borrows the basic premise and central character to tell his own twisted story. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, because I love a really sleazy Italian trash-fest, and they don't come much deviant than this unapologetically OTT sucker!

From the word go, Patrick Still Lives delivers the goods in terms of quality female flesh, with plenty of nudity from what must be the finest collection of Italian crumpet ever assembled for a low-budget knock-off of a minor Aussie horror flick. Working alongside the lovely Lydia is the equally sexy Meg (Anna Veneziano), whose only responsibility at the clinic seems to be to pet the guard dogs; the female guests are also real crackers, with politician's wife Cheryl (Carmen Russo) possessing a magnificent set of breasts and the gorgeous Stella (Mariangela Giordano) also being the owner of a mighty impressive set of curves (and an equally hairy minge—natch!).

For over half an hour, viewers must be content with this constant display of nekkidness courtesy of these fine fillies, after which Patrick finally begins to rack up some kills: first to go is Carmen's hubby, boiled alive in a swimming pool (or frozen by the dry ice that is used to achieve the crap bubbling water effect); the next victim is hung up on a hook, the point piercing under the chin; the third victim arguably suffers the worst fate—a roasting spit rammed up her vagina and out of her mouth (with no gory detail spared!!!!); one of the women has her head sliced off by an electric car window; last but not least, the guard dogs turn on Meg and eat her alive (man's best friend, but apparently not so nice to women).

Despite Landi's focus being on the sex and violence, the film also boasts some startlingly effective imagery along with all the blood, boobs and bush: garish coloured lighting transforms many an otherwise mundane scene into a macabre cartoonish nightmare, and although the effect might be considered laughable these days, the repeated image of Patrick's eyes multiplied over the action is certainly very memorable. A Goblin-style synth score from Berto Pisano lends a soupçon of class (where none was really needed).

A pointless blackmail subplot is never resolved, and once Patrick has sated his desire for revenge, Landi wraps up his film in extremely abrupt fashion without revealing the real identity of the bottle-thrower, but since most people who check out this film will be be doing so purely for the nudity and splatter, this lack of exposition is excusable.

7.5 out of 10, rounded up to 8 for IMDb.

Sleazy as hell.
HumanoidOfFlesh10 February 2004
Mario Landi's "Patrick Still Lives" has to be one of the sleaziest exploitation sickies ever made in Italy. It's filled with incredible amount of nudity and masturbation.Gianni Dei plays Patrick,a young man who is sent into coma as the result of the random act of violence. He lies in his bed looking into space for the most part and killing people with his telekinetic powers. The script is pretty bad,but the gore is mildly shocking.Still the scene where Maria Angela Giordano has a long metal pole pushed into her vagina is a real jaw dropper...Another offensive murder scene involves a lovely black-haired Anna Veneziano killed by her own dogs:they chase her all over the grounds before biting, licking and chewing her around the genitals, eventually killing her.The masturbation scene of stunningly beautiful Andrea Belfiore is also worth mentioning.Like earlier Mario Landi's sleazefest "Giallo a Venezia"(1979),"Patrick Still Lives" is cheap, shoddy, misogynistic and gleefully disgusting. It's just a pure exploitation film,so you should enjoy it as such.Highly recommended,if you like sleaze and extreme gore.

Gloriously sleazy Italian horror junk
Woodyanders30 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Patrick Herschel becomes a comatose vegetable in the wake of a freak accident. Patrick's doctor dad invites several strangers to the secluded villa where he keeps Patrick alive on a bed in a secret clinic area. Naturally, said strangers start meeting untimely gruesome deaths left and right.

Director Mario Landi relates the enjoyably lurid story at a constant pace, maintains a blithely scuzzy and depraved tone throughout, delivers oodles of deliciously gratuitous bare female flesh (scorching hot honeys Mariangela Giordano, Carmen Russo, Anna Veneziano, and Andrea Belfiore all dutifully duff their duds in the name of leering exploitation), and stages the brutal murder set pieces with go-for-the-throat gory gusto, with an especially nasty and drawn out violation/impalement via fire poker rating as the definite splatter highlight. Moreover, we also get a funky-throbbing Goblinesque score, some choice gut-busting cruddy dialogue (favorite line: "Screaming women make me nervous"), and lots of conspicuous consumption of J&B whiskey (of course!). A total trashy treat.

Death due to a fatality
BandSAboutMovies26 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I worry at times, will the Italian exploitation industry of the 1980s ever run out of wonders to make me delirious with? Is there a bottom to this well of movie drugs? Well, sure there is, but every time I think I can't get that high ever again, I put on something like Patrick Still Lives and walk away dazed. Seriously, well done, Mario Landi, you absolute maniac.

Full warning: This is the same lunatic that made Giallo in Venice, so if you think that this is something you can put on to babysit your kids while you do something in the other room, by all means, show your kids a movie where a woman is assaulted by a telekinetic powered poker.

Also, this is totally an unauthorized sequel to the Australian film Patrick, which has no scenes where the wind picks up and a blonde nurse paws at herself in gynecological detail and really, isn't it a worse movie for it?

"You Need to Know ... This Time Patrick Will Kill You!"

Oh man, do I ever.

Gabriele Crisanti produced this movie, along with Giallo in Venice, Savage World Today, Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror and Satan's Baby Doll. Like any good producer, he put his girlfriend in the film, Mariangela Giordano (she's the Countess in Killer Barbys, as well as making appearances in The Sect, Decameron n° 4 - Le belle novelle del Boccaccio and many more movies). In both this movie and the aforementioned Giallo in Venice, Giordano dies in ways that would potentially upset even Lucio Fulci. She said later, "Looking back I shouldn't have done them. But I was in love with Gabriele. I would have done anything for him. Now I can see how the increasingly gruesome ways he had me killed in them was a reflection of the breakdown in our own relationship. This movie is the worst instance of how shocked I was in retrospect by something I'd done on film. That poker scene is so disgusting, so terrible, only Gabriele could have sweet-talked me into actually doing it! It took two days to film that scene, and because the poker had to keep thrusting between my legs before it came out of the top of my head, it got more and more painful as we kept going. And it was cold and freezing. I don't know why Gabriele always insisted on making these movies during winter."

This movie has lots of J&B, a better car decapitation than Hereditary, green glowing eyes, women stripping in front of coma patients, strobing lights, more nudity than most pornography, a ridiculous plan, dogs eating people, a scalding, a hook to the neck, a health spa that looks like a foreboding castle, Patrick wearing a blonde wig and looking even more ridiculous than I thought he would, a rocking Goblin-esque score by Berto Pisano and an origin story that involves a beer bottle.

I wonder how the people who live in the mansion - Villa Parisi, Via Mondragone, Frascati, Metropolitan City of Rome - feel, knowing that this film, Blood for Dracula and Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror were made there. Surely that place has to be Amityville haunted.
