Great Show, Sadly Overlooked
artbumps30 June 2020
I absolutely LOVED this series! Though it aired just a few episodes, and I only saw 2 of those, I never forgot this show! I have been looking for some way to watch it again ever since. Where is the DVD collection? Why does it never air on one of the stations like 'TV Land' which are dedicated to playing the great old TV programs? Someone somewhere please put "The Phoenix" on TV, U Tube, Netflix, Amazon, or one of the many other platforms so we can see it again! Think of all the television programs being made or rebooted. So many of them are filled with apathetic characters, predictable dialogue and plots that don't go anywhere. Yet they are getting picked up and aired repeatedly.. I feel a great sadness for the lack of imagination getting used in Hollywood. Especially when I know Hollywood is filled with imagination and talent! I wonder why? If the producers, writers, and directors can't come up with a novel idea, then why not pick up an old show like this one that had such promise? I encourage you, nay I dare you to pick it up! There are so many places to go with the story, it was never finished. Think of the possibilities! You would get to spring board from this great beginning and create. I guarantee there IS an audience even if they don't know it yet. Look at how well the Marvel and DC movies did. Careful casting would be needed though, as Judson Scott has such perfectly sculpted features, mellow voice and piercing yet somehow still deeply soulful eyes. In a word, otherworldly really..

Good Show...Bad Description
travller3 March 2007
Vanguard from an alien civilization who was scouting potential colonization sites for his dying planet, Bennu (Judson Scott) landed on Earth 1500 years ago in the pre-Inca days and was entombed in the Andes Mountains. When 20th century scientists revived him, he went in search of a fellow space traveler, Mira who likewise had been entombed. His only weapon on this planet was an amulet with the image of a Phoenix encased in a triangle. When he concentrated on the amulet, it produced amazing powers of life and death. Government agents lead by Preminger (Richard Lynch) hoped to capture Bennu's amulet for their own use. Bennu of the Golden Light was the featured alien on the short-lived sci-fi series THE PHOENIX/ABC/1982 which originally aired as a made for TV movie on April 26, 1981. -tvacres.com
