This film presents a group of characters going about their daily lives in in working class, 1980s Wollongong (a town dominated by the steel industry at that time). There's not much in the way of plot, just young people trying to find work and maintaining their family and social lives.
The strength of this film is in capturing time and place. Anyone who lived through the era will find this very relatable and perhaps nostalgic. The authenticity of the depiction of day to day life is quite extraordinary. That said, those familiar with Australian Cinema of the time, will also recognise the limited production values, and occasionally amateurish direction.
Probably not a film with a wide appeal, but it's understandable that this film was preserved by the National Film and Sound Archive, perhaps more as a historical document than as an example of great Australian cinema.
