Joe Biden and Donald Trump seem to be heading towards a showdown, a rehash of their battle in 2020. While there are a lot of criticisms levied at the two candidates separately, one major concern that has plagued the American people is the advanced ages of both these candidates, who seem to be the only choices for the people in the upcoming election.
Joe Biden
Coming out to discuss the various issues that are being brought up concerning the upcoming elections, Joe Biden took a well-aimed jab at Donald Trump, while also defending the allegations of his ‘deteriorating’ mental faculties. The President talked about why he was a better candidate, saying that the other guy “can’t remember his wife’s name”.

Guns N’ Roses have released a new single, “The General.” The slow-building, guitar-led song marks the rock band’s second track of 2023 following “Perhaps,” which dropped in August.
Last month, Guns N’ Roses debuted “The General” live during their two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. The song has been floating around for years. In 2007, Sebastian Bach spoke about the track in an interview, saying, “It’s by far the heaviest metal tune I think I’ve ever heard Axl [Rose] do, this slow, grinding riff with these high, piercing vocals,...

Exclusive: John Patton Ford is writing to direct an untitled film for Netflix with 21 Laps producing. Ford wrote and directed the Aubrey Plaza starrer Emily the Criminal.
The drama follows a mysterious Union spy named James Andrews who, along with infantry volunteers, stole a Confederate steam engine and planned to destroy the entire Confederacy’s supply line to end the war.
Racing along at speeds up to 60 mph, they destroyed track to the main Southern supply route behind them and shut down communications by cutting telegraph lines, all to disrupt the Confederacy’s supply line. The six surviving raiders became the first to receive the Medal of Honor, awarded by Abraham Lincoln. The caper also would be the historical basis for Buster Keaton’s 1926 silent film The General.

UK ska veterans Madness have released their latest studio album, Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie, via BMG. Stream the record via Apple Music or Spotify below.
Spanning 14 tracks, Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie is truly a theatrical affair, with a spoken word prologue and several different “acts” occurring between the songs, all performed by actor (and longtime fan) Martin Freeman. As for the music itself, Madness brought the album to life as a collaborative effort, recording together alongside engineer and mixer, Matt Galsbey, in Cricklewood, London.
“Well, well, well, here we are… our 13th album (lucky for some),” the band said in a statement. “Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie is ready for your ears. For us, recording it was the perfect antidote to the chaos of the past few years — we were all there, properly in the zone.

Guns N’ Roses performed at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night (November 2nd) in Los Angeles, and they offered up a special treat for the crowd. The legendary rock band gave the new song “The General” its live debut.
The band launched into “The General” 10 songs into the set, right in between the recent tunes “Perhaps” and “Absurd.” Before performing the track, singer Axl Rose said, “We’re gonna try a new song” and that the experience “could be very interesting.”
“The General” is the B-side to the recent physical release of “Perhaps,” which arrived earlier this year. The song marks the fourth new track Guns N’ Roses have released since the 2016 return of classic members Slash and Duff McKagan. All of the songs were reworked from earlier demos, mostly from the Chinese Democracy sessions.

Guns N’ Roses played the penultimate show of their 2023 tour at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night, and they used the occasion to debut “The General.” “This could be very interesting,” Rose told the crowd. “If there’s ever a better place to fall on your face, I think this fuckin’ counts.” Check out a fan-shot video.
“The General” is one of many Chinese Democracy-era songs fans learned about long before the album came out. Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach raved about it in a series of interviews.

Hours after Guns N’ Roses finally released their new song “Perhaps,” Axl Rose and company debuted the single live during their concert Friday at Pittsburgh’s Pnc Park.
“Forgive me if I don’t run around and try to project as much because I’m gonna try to figure out how to fucking sing it live,” Rose warned. “I like to think of when we wrote this song it was like the immaculate inception.”

A new Guns N’ Roses song, titled “Perhaps,” accidentally leaked this weekend via those digital jukeboxes found in bars.
“Perhaps,” which dates back to the Chinese Democracy sessions, was previously played by the reunited Gn’R during a soundtrack before their Tel Aviv concert in June 2023, with low-quality recordings spreading on the internet; a rough demo version has also circulated for years.
In recent weeks, pre-save pages for the track briefly appeared on streaming services heralding an Aug. 11 release date, but Friday came and went without the song’s arrival.

Guns N’ Roses kicked off their 2023 world tour in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday (June 1st), performing a few songs for the first time in 30 or more years.
Among the rarities in the 32-song set were the Use Your Illusion I track “Bad Obsessions” (first time since 1993), the Use Your Illusion II cut “Pretty Tied Up” (first time since 1992), and the Appetite for Destruction song “Anything Goes” (first time since 1988). The show also marked the live debut of a cover of The Stooges’ “T.V. Eye,” sung by bassist Duff McKagan.
All told, the band played nine songs from Appetite for Destruction, including classics like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
Additional covers included a rendition of the UK Subs tune “Down on the Farm” (first time since 2006), as well as Velvet Revolver’s “Slither,” and others. The band also played...

It has been a long time coming, but I am finally making my way through the Silent Hill franchise. I dusted off my cobweb-covered PSP classic three years ago to play the original. Two years ago, Neil and I were joined by Matt Jordan to celebrate Silent Hill 2‘s 20th anniversary. And This week, we’re celebrating yet another milestone, Silent Hill 3‘s 20th anniversary!
Playing these games in such short succession to one another has felt like nothing short of a crash course in a realm of survival horror that goes beyond traditional conventions. To be 20 years removed from such experiences’ original release and their groundbreaking storytelling is still as potent indicates their timelessness. And for my money, Silent Hill 3 feels like the most refined entry in the series we have covered yet.

This post contains spoilers through the seventh episode of "Succession" season 4.
The political situation in "Succession" has always been fascinating. Back in season 1, Shiv (Sarah Snook) ended up working on the Presidential campaign of Gil Eavis, an anti-billionaire Bernie Sanders-type character. Although "Succession" has always felt fairly realistic with its take on how politics and wealth intermingle, the fact that Gil would have Shiv on his campaign team was admittedly a bit of a stretch.
If real-life Bernie Sanders ever mentioned in an interview that he had Rupert Murdoch's daughter on his team, he'd almost certainly get some pushback from his base. And although his meeting with Logan during Shiv's wedding in the season 1 finale was never made public, it would still be a massive PR risk for Gil if the press ever got a whiff of it.
So it may have been for the best when Shiv...

Jim Howick’s wicked sense of humour helped turn Horrible Histories, Ghosts and Sex Education into massive hits. Here, the actor and writer reveals how he’s always made it up as he went along
Jim Howick is sitting on a bench in Primrose Hill in London, drinking tea from a cardboard cup and minding his own business, when a dad on a bicycle zooms by on the asphalt path. Brakes squeal and the dad shouts breathless thank-yous at the bemused actor, before cycling on. This sort of thing has been happening to Howick quite a bit, he says, ever since Covid closed the schools. When parents were struggling to find ways to entertain their kids at home, the BBC’s Horrible Histories was much in rotation on iPlayer. “Essentially, we became childcare,” says Howick, who was a part of the original Horrible Histories cast from 2009 to 2014. Eli Roth, who is known to have a passion for Italian B-movies, is at the Venice Film Festival to help promote biographical doc “Inferno Rosso: Joe D’Amato on the Road to Excess,” directed by Manlio Gomarasca and Massimiliano Zanin, in which Roth features as a talking head.
The doc, which premiered on the Lido as a special screening, sheds light on Aristide Massaccesi, known as Joe D’Amato, the under-the-radar producer, director and cinematographer who between the 1970s and the late 1990s spawned some 200 films in a wide range of genres spanning from spaghetti westerns to horror to erotic/exotic to porn. Refresh for updates: Twenty years after the horrific attacks of 9/11, America remembered the terror of planes turned into missiles, the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the courage displayed in response. From the memorial sites in New York, Shanksville, Pa, at the Pentagon itself and across the land and the world, voices of commemoration rose up — and Hollywood was no exception.

Camila Cabello’s Cinderella is the most ridiculous movie of 2021, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Entering this movie, with its cast of triple (or at least double) threats, it can be easy to let assumptions get the best of you. Cabello is an extremely talented singer, so you can assume there’s going to be some tunes. Billy Porter is fabulous, so you can assume he will continue to be so as this adaptation’s incarnation of the fairy godparent. Idina Menzel, who plays the tale’s stepmother, is a goddess amongst us all, so you can assume she will continue to wow the world over. Wrap that up in a classic tale of a parentless child who lives with her stepmother and stepsisters, and you’ve got a story that has been told before, with some singing on the side. Yet, somehow, in no small part...

Homer Simpson’s African American nuclear plant supervisor Carl Carlson will be voiced by Alex Désert on The Simpsons season 32 premiere, according to Variety.
There is now word yet on whether Désert will continue to voice the character beyond Sunday’s episode “Undercover Burns.” Désert is a veteran animation voice actor, appearing as Swarm on Disney Xd’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, Mr. Bojenkins on Adult Swim’s Mr. Pickles and its spinoff, Momma Named Me Sheriff, and on The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He was a regular on the TV series Becker, which starred Ted Danson, and appeared on such varied shows as Boy Meets World, Better Call Saul, and Better Things. He also appeared in films like The Flash, Freaky Friday, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, High Fidelity and Swingers.

“The Simpsons” fans might notice at least one long-running character sounds a little different in Sunday’s Season 32 premiere.
In the episode, Carl Carlson — Homer Simpson’s nuclear plant co-worker, and best friend to Lenny Leonard — is now voiced by actor Alex Désert (“Better Things”). Désert replaces Hank Azaria in the role, at least for that episode.
The switch comes as “The Simpsons” producers confirmed earlier this summer that it would no longer have white actors voice non-white characters. Azaria had voiced Carl, who is Black, since the beginning of the show.
It’s unclear whether Désert is Carl’s permanent voice, and if he’ll be voicing other characters as well. Among other recurring characters the edict might impact include Dr. Julius Hibbert, who is seen in the episode, but doesn’t speak.
Désert also voices Swarm on Disney Xd’s “Spider-Man: Maximum Venom” and Mr. Bojenkins on Adult Swim...

We’re only just at the beginning of September, but we already have a decent idea of what the lineup of new content coming to Disney Plus in November is going to be like.
Thanks to the recent announcement that The Mandalorian will premiere on October 30th, we know that we’ll be getting a new episode of the Star Wars show’s second season every week of the month. Though at present, we don’t know any more than that.
Elsewhere, though, new episodes of ongoing series Weird But True, The Right Stuff, One Day at Disney and Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom all roll out throughout November. There are also a bunch of movies that you might want to catch when they arrive. Smart, driven and still naïve, Kanan’s world revolves around his mother, Raq (Miller), who raised him by herself. She is his everything. At the same time, he is beginning to get a sense of not only the world around him but his place in said world. Kanan wants to be just like his mother — and that’s the problem. He’s young and wide-eyed and doesn’t know how the hustle works. And even more important, his mother is not nearly as keen as he is for him to follow in her footsteps. Many people credit 2008’s “Iron Man” with today’s modern superhero movie renaissance, as it’s the film that launched the biggest franchise in history, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the film that is probably the one that truly launched the era of superhero films that we’re enjoying (or not enjoying) today is Sam Rami’s “Spider-Man,” way back in 2002. However, according to the director, if he had his way, his first Marvel film would have come a decade sooner and featured a totally different character.

Yes folks, it’s a Joe D’Amato double feature as the twisted minds at Severin Films have seen fit to release two of his most notorious shockers, Anthropophagous (1980) and Absurd (1981) simultaneously for the horror crowd curious and rabid (rabidly curious?) to find out what all the fuss was about when these were originally banned way back in the day.
Banned? Indeed, they were part of the first wave of Great Britain’s infamous early ‘80s “Video Nasties”, a group of horror films that were yanked from shops and prosecuted; many would return to shelves wounded and neutered, or never make it back to the storefronts at all until many years later. Bless Severin Films then, for once again bringing viewers the greasy goods uncut and restored to their former, well beauty may be a strong word. These are D’Amatos we’re talking about.

Before Joe D’Amato became Joe D’Amato, he was Aristide Massaccesi, a respected cinematographer and camera operator. As such, he was largely responsible for the look of films ranging from low-budget spaghetti westerns to gialli such as Umberto Lenzi’s A Quite Place to Kill and, most famously, Massimo Dallamano’s What Have You Done to Solange. Massaccesi first co-directed several small films before directing the war film Heroes in Hell as well as the giallo Death Smiles on a Murderer, both in 1973.
But D’Amato, who would use his famous pseudonym for the first time in 1975, would become (in)famous for his extreme horror titles and adult films beginning in the late 70’s and continuing until his death in 1999. He is perhaps most famous for his string of over-the-top gorefests like Beyond the Darkness (Aka Buio Omega), Anthropophagus, and Absurd as well as his...

During the early 60’s to the mid 80’s Italian horror was in its heyday – directors such as Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, Antonio Margheriti, Umberto Lenzi, Joe D’Amato, and Enzo. G. Castellari directed some of the most outrageous terror films ever. Films that, at the time, pushed boundaries, depicting some of the most stylish and horrific on screen images. But at the same time these films included some of the most elegant and beautiful scores, scores which gained a cult following then and to this day – and they remain as popular now as they’ve ever been.

One of 39 titles to be successfully prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Acts in 1984, Joe D’Amato’s Absurd (aka Horrible aka Rosso Sangue) massaged the erogenous zones of gore hounds across the globe upon release. Centered around a tense, unforgettable melody, Carlo Maria Cordio’s score is a compelling mix of high-strung grindhouse funk and synthesized splinters of Italian flair. As part of Death Waltz’s video nasty series, the label commissioned the canvas work of Wes Benscoter, whose grizzly graphical style violently epitomized the film's dark, bloodthirsty aesthetic.
Creating cadaverous cover arts for many of heavy metal's legendary acts (his portfolio includes Slayer’s Divine Intervention and Black Sabbath’s The Dio Years), it was only a matter of time before Death Waltz became a regular client of Benscoter. “After [the cover art for] New Barbarians was finished, I mentioned to Spencer [Hickman, head of Death Waltz] that if they ever do Antropophagus that I’d love to do the cover art,...

While horror films have been dominated by American directors and films, most casual horror fans seem to forget that some of the most unique, frightening and innovative horror films spawned from countries other than the Us. Italy of course played a great part in this, bringing forth some of the most innovative directors. Started by Mario Bava (“Black Sabbath” 1963) and Riccardo Freda (“The Horrible Dr. Hitchcock” 1962) in the 60s, who inspired a list of great directors such as Dario Argento (“Profondo Rosso” 1975), Lucio Fulci (“The Beyond” 1981), Michele Soavi (“Deliria” 1987), Pupi Avati (“The House With the Laughing Windows” 1976), Lamberto Bava (“Demons” 1985) as well as the more exploitative cinema of Ruggero Deodato (“Cannibal Holocaust” 1980), Umberto Lenzi (“Cannibal Ferox” 1981)...

The fourth instalment in Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise launched alongside Nintendo’s New (well, at least sort of new) Nintendo 3Ds handheld back in April. Since then, hunters around the world have been collectively stuck in a hypnotic gameplay loop of killing monsters, looting their corpses and upgrading their gear so that they can, well, kill bigger monsters, loot those corpses and upgrade that gear.
Despite its extremely simple concept (and its endearingly charming obsession with cat-based puns), Monster Hunter 4 follows series tradition by being a game with a staggering amount of depth; both in terms of strategy and gear customisation.

The surest way to make a system’s greatness apparent isn’t hardware specs or a sleek, smooth design; it’s games, plain and simple. I bought the Wii U and 3Ds at the same time, around the time the former released. Nintendo’s 3Ds may have had a slow start, but after a couple of sizeable hits, suddenly the dam burst. The 3Ds’ library is now not only full of a vast multitude of titles, but a wallet-scaring number of absolutely fantastic ones. Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Resident Evil: Revelations,...

Ready for a spin-off from the Monster Hunter series? Capcom announces the RPG Monster Hunter Stories for Nintendo 3Ds...
The Monster Hunter series is already one of the biggest in Japan, and Capcom's looking to take it in a new direction with the spin-off, Monster Hunter Stories for the Nintendo 3Ds.
