Good film
Dave_douell18 December 2018
I wouldn't call this a movie but it is a very good film. It's hardcore without feeling hardcore, it's not sleazy at all. I lucked into finding a copy and will watch it several more times over the years I'm sure. I would have liked to have seen it when it first came out, I was in Germany '85-'88, just a little too late. I only have one question, what was the deal with the guy that was shaking his head like a maniac anytime he got near a female? There's something wrong with that boy! Lol

It is now close to 14 years since I saw this film. It has haunted me since that time, as the very finest, most delicately handled erotic film that I have ever seen (not that I have seen that many, but enough to know their range of quality).

It is hardcore, make no mistake. But it was handled with taste and elegance. A group of people, strangers all, find themselves invited to a weekend at a castle...and the expectable begins to happen. But with such subtlety and attention to the art of the visual, that I knew at once I was watching something special.

It is odd, but I had not remembered that it was in German. I forgot the title, and the friend I went with could not recall it, so there was no way of seeking to find it again when the memory finally prodded me to do so. And thus the frustration, for the past decade. But in going over some old journaling, just the other day, I came across an entry that told me the date I had seen it...and from there it was simply a matter of digging back through the local press.

Now, of course, I am just as frustrated, because there appears to be no way of getting ahold of a video copy. Either it was not done on video, or perhaps it is only available in Germany, I do not know. However, I write this in case there is anyone out there who happens to know where I might find one, as I would leap on the opportunity. Please DO see it, if you ever get the chance, and get in touch with me to compare notes.

(Maybe I shall try and locate the producer!)

Awesome Movie

We saw this at one of the local art movie theaters in the Montrose area of Houston, TX. It was a total surprise compared to the write-up in the theater's newsletter but we were both blown away by the artistry. It was beautifully done and (apparently) photographed in a schloss (German name for château) somewhere in the Munich area. It is a very explicit exploration of the sexual relationships of a group of twentyish men and women isolated from the day-to-day constraints. It is fantastic on more levels than I can remember. We came home after the movie and talked and talked until about 4 am the next morning.

The version we saw was in English (mostly) so there must be at least two versions since the first reviewer saw the movie in (probably its original) German version. I searched and searched for a video tape version but never came up with anything. Would absolutely love to have a VHS or DVD version of this. It explores relationships at a fundamental level and is also a great tutorial on how to relate to your partner. If anyone knows the writer/director, please convince him to release again, preferably on DVD these days. I cannot even imagine getting tired of watching the candid performance of the actors who are now probably all in their forties. Please, please bring it back.

It's got even better with the years.

An academic friend put me onto this film about thirty years ago and I subsequently bought a DVD directly from the producer and entered into correspondence with him. Just now I have watched it again, for the first time since I bought it.

In a world which has become immeasurably uglier, its essential beauty is even more heartbreaking that when it was produced. One of the actors comments on how pornography always makes the male dominant -- sex is an aggressive attack. There is such affection and consideration in this film's love-making -- from my own experience, I know that it's real. Sex isn't combat, it's chamber music!

I was surprised
Moritz-69 January 2001
The other day my film was shown at a festival for erotic documentary and I was surprised myself, that it has become more meditative, more beautiful over times. People wondered why nobody ever has tried to make another film like that.

Excellent low -budget movie
LoQ-115 December 2007
Love this film also. Saw it when it was first shown i8n Germany in a small independent cinema in Frankfurt. It was really crowded and it was a very ambitious atmosphere to. The erotic of the movie hit the spectators and the discussion with Moritz Boerner the producer and director was always underlined by that. In his genre it was a very ambitious movie even especially when you think that it was an independent movie.

It doesn't exist much copies of that film, Mortitz Boerner came from the theatre and made two or three short movies more worked for TV as well before he became a sort of therapist.

For the people who wish to see that movie again, you could find it on his homepage which isn't that easy to search for but its possible.

The best
smurfix27 June 2008
This is one of the very few movies out there which are very erotic without being pornographic, despite there being only a very rudimentary plot. There's not much live sound or dialogue; instead, the actors do voice-overs describing their experience, why they participated, etc.

It's a document.

It's mind-blowing.

I can totally understand why nobody else ever tried to do something like this. There already is something like this. This. :-)

NB: The producer doesn't have the rights to distribute a DVD version. I've also never seen it being sold anywhere; one may email Mr. Boerner and order a copy on VHS.

A warm-hearted hardcore film
mike-c-b6 June 2019
Nobody in this film signed up to the "sex & violence" cliche.

The reason sex in film hasn't got any better than this is the reason why Sex Therapists exist today - Almost everyone is suppressed and told not to touch themselves, yelled at for having any natural interest, banned from the family even... and then it comes out as childish intimidation and schizophrenic sex. That is modern sex in film today.

There is a lot of room for up for improvement in the film, and for remakes, etc. Sometimes the film goes too slowly, but sometimes it's a no judgement high-energy party and everybody's invited. Could easily make your own modern version with input from various Sex Therapists and watch people go from sexually passive-aggressive to something like the people in this film.
