Elisabeth Shue is getting ready for her entrance on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" as its long-time female lead makes her exit.
Founding series star Marg Helgenberger's Catherine Willows leaves the CBS show in a two-part episode that starts Wednesday (Jan. 18). Then, "Leaving Las Vegas" Oscar nominee Shue returns to Vegas -- at least figuratively, since the drama is filmed largely in Los Angeles -- when her Julie "Finn" Finlay joins the crime lab Wednesday, Feb. 15.
"I'm really enjoying it," Shue tells Zap2it of getting back into a regular work pace she hasn't had since doing ABC's drama "Call to Glory" in the mid-1980s. "I remember that what I loved about it was the feeling of almost like being in repertory theater. There's such a family feel to a group that's gone on for years and years, and I feel it immediately when I'm there [at 'CSI']. Everyone is so happy to see each other.

Elisabeth Shue is joining "CSI" later this season, effectively taking over for departing original cast member Marg Helgenberger.
Shue's first appearance is scheduled to air Feb. 15. She'll be playing a new member of the Las Vegas CSI team -- although she has a history with Ted Danson's character, D.B. Russell. Her character is coming off anger-management therapy, and the rumor around the office is Russell fired her from the crime lab in Seattle.
"While it's difficult to say goodbye to a beloved character like Catherine Willows, it's exciting to start a journey with a new CSI, especially when that character is played by Elisabeth Shue," executive producer Carol Mendolsohn says. "The new CSI struggles with 'brutal honesty issues' and suffers no fools."
Helgenberger, who's been with "CSI" since it debuted in 2000, previously announced she would leave the show midway through this season. Her last episode is scheduled to air in January.

This past weekend at the Hilton Universal City, hundreds of stars gathered to meet and greet fans, and reunite with old friends at the HollywoodXpo. For Trekkies the highlight of the event was the Star Trek: Of Gods and Men Internet series cast reunion. Personally, we preferred a few other star spottings—The Brady Bunch's Susan Olsen, Bewitched's Erin Murphy, Happy Days' Erin Moran, and Lost in Space's June Lockhart and Mark Goddard.
We asked some of the celebrities why they come to these kinds of events. Replies ranged from selfless charitable giving to a deep respect for their fans to a simple need to earn some cash.
We asked Susan Olsen, who played Cindy (the youngest one in curls) on The Brady Bunch, why she likes to do these kind of shows and she joked, "I actually don't. I really don't like these things.
