One of the three most modern fortifications of the First World War in Europe : Fort XIII "Sans Rideau" in the Przemysl Fortress (Poland). Two Polish officers are buried in his interior after the explosion of a heavy projectile. Having access to water and huge food supplies, they are waiting for help without panic. The lieutenant finds a notebook and starts to run a diary, seeking support in meditation and prayer. The captain systematically depletes the supply of rum. In addition to their time, the herd of rats becomes their greatest threat. The captain falls into madness, becomes aggressive, finally commits suicide. Lieutenant more and more often hallucinate, in which appears the family, palace, beautiful women. His existence is completely subordinated to imaginary reality. To control the time, build a water clock, make friends with the rats that feeds and talk to. In this condition, the workers find him dismantling the bunker.
