A great adventure movie (mini)
mavericx16 May 2003
In my opinion one of the best Russian movies. The plot is kept quite close to the original novel written by J.Verne although the ending is different (also very good). In my country this movie was shown once a year and everyone stopped to do what they were doing and watched it. The movie had only one minus - it was divided into seven parts and usually you could see only one part per day. The director had chosen perfect actors, for example, Lembit Ulfsak was a perfect Paganel. Mainly this is what I wanted to say about this film. Bye.

Best adventure movie ever

For me this is the best adventure movie ever. Superior choice of actors, especially Lembit Ulfsak (Estonian actor) as Paganel. Lembit Ulfsak's play is one of the key elements that makes this movie so special. But there is more to it. A movie about the true human values as much as an adventure movie. I've seen it ~7x times, and still a weekend with one of the series is almost a tradition in wintertime. The harmonious meditative pace of the movie may be hard to bear for the big fans of modern fast and dynamic action movies. This movie is not a quick shot but rather a long glass of fine wine. What I didn't like in the movie when I watched it young, was the interruptions of the parallel story of Jules Vernes contemplations and conversations, but now I appreciate them as much as the adventure story itself.
