Hikari Sentai Maskman is my second super sentai series these are my initial reactions.
The overall story of this series is a mixed bag, there are some cool and interesting plot elements but the over abundance of filler really ruins it. What is weird is that the series jumps right into like the middle of the actual story, I assume that the actual characters have been maskmen for at least a year training to get ready for the underground invasion. It would have been much more interesting if instead of all that filler we actually got some backstory for the characters and the relationship between Takeru and Mio. Aside from those complaints, the main cast of characters are likable enough that I don't want to give the story a rating lower than 6.
The acting is good I don't have many complaints other than he laugh prince Igam does sounds forced.
The music for this series is amazing, I have the opening and ending themes on my phone and listen to them when I work out, the OST is amazing as well though the theme song for the jet cannon is really cheesy but still great.
What hurts this series a lot is the filler and the repetitiveness of the episodes. It came to the point where as soon as the Maskmen called out for their jet cannon I began to skip until the monster of the week was defeated. There is not any reason to watch this series more than once if you are not a hardcore sentai fan.

The maskmen and light force are likable, the in suit action is great and the overall concept is interesting however the execution leaves more to be desired and the over abundance of filler and the repetitiveness of the episodes really hurts the overall enjoyment of the series.
