Good French vigilante movie
searchanddestroy-12 January 2017
You have here a pure vigilante scheme, a topic that reminds me another American TV movie which title was THE GUARDIAN, starring Martin Sheen and Lou Gosset Jr. Same story, very same. And you had hundreds of other films like this in the US. In France, you also had Alain Jessua's LES CHIENS, starring Gérard Depardieu...This is a social movie, which could have been adapted from a GJ Arnaud's novel, what is not. But Arnaud, among all his novels, has written stories like this. Accurate analysis of the ordinary citizens' daily life, in the suburbs, with everything that means, positive and negative points. For instance, in this movie, the question is how worth it is to optimize security to the maximum, when the result is that the protector becomes himself a predator...Very interesting feature. It was filmed in 2.35 frame, very surprising for such a French film. Very typical of the eighties: music score, acting and directing. You have never seen this kind of stuff in the nineties or later. Eighties were not the very best for the French movie industry. A sort of transition era. The end of the golden years.
