- We encounter a small child left to fend for herself after her parents and older brother were killed for harboring a deserter. The child plays among the dead bodies, treating them as if they are still alive. One body is fastened to a wall, another is tied to something, and a third - the young boy - is hanging. ... a young man is accidentally drowned and his mother is very upset when she finds him. A funeral is held where a woman keens a wailing 'song' and then the body is cremated on a pyre.
