Since 1980, UCLA film grads and industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy have honored the very worst in cinema with the Razzie Awards. Here’s a look back to the worst pictures of the last four decades.
“Can’t Stop the Music” (1980)
The Golden Raspberry Awards got their start by recognizing this musical comedy, a justly mocked quasi-biopic of the Village People.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 8%
“Mommie Dearest” (1981)
Faye Dunaway goes full camp as Joan Crawford in a docudrama whose comedy was often unintentional.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 53%
“Inchon” (1982)
This bloated, over-budget Korean war film starring Laurence Olivier as Gen. Douglas MacArthur was an epic turkey.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 0%
“The Lonely Lady” (1983)
Pia Zadora followed her mysterious (and widely mocked in retrospect) Golden Globe win for “Butterfly” with this adaptation of a trashy Harold Robbins novel about a schoolgirl/wannabe screenwriter.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 0%
“Bolero” (1984)
Bo Derek ditches her “10” cornrows to...

President Donald Trump, who was impeached last week for inciting the insurrection at the Capitol, is set to be tried by the Senate after he leaves office tomorrow. And now the soon-to-be-former president has another trial planned: On Tuesday, SAG-AFTRA, the performers union he’s been a member of for three decades, began planning a hearing to consider whether Trump’s incitement of the violence at the Capitol violated the guild’s constitution (via Deadline).
The SAG-AFTRA board met Tuesday and voted to find probable cause that Trump violated its constitution for inciting the January 6 attack. The guild is also is looking into whether or not Trump is “sustaining a reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists, many of whom are SAG-AFTRA members.” The matter is set to be heard by the union’s Disciplinary Committee, which will consider whether to penalize, censure,...

Impeachment isn’t the only thing Donald Trump could face as he leaves office. On Tuesday, the national board of SAG-AFTRA announced that it will hold a disciplinary hearing against the outgoing president, where he could face expulsion from the actors’ guild.
The board made the move to hold the hearing after a request from SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, who cited the U.S. Capitol attack on Jan. 6 and Trump’s role in inciting the attack as grounds for expulsion. The hearing will be overseen by the guild’s disciplinary committee, which did not participate in the national board’s vote on approving the hearing. Carteris and National Executive Director David White, who submitted the hearing request to the board on Carteris’ behalf, will not participate in the hearing.
“Donald Trump attacked the values that this union holds most sacred — democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races...

Is there no area of public life that Donald Trump hasn't permeated?
Moviegoers used to be relatively safe from the bloviating billionaire, save for the occasional harmless-if-nauseating cameo appearance in such films as Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and The Little Rascals. But now that he's president, he's managed to infiltrate even the cherished institution for lovers of bad movies known as the Razzie Awards. True, Trump is a previous winner, having scored a Worst Supporting Actor award for his smarmy turn opposite Bo Derek in 1989's Ghosts Can't Do It. But this year he's ...

2017-09-01T11:01:33-07:00Matt Damon Reveals Shocking Trump Tidbit
Matt Damon doesn't like Donald Trump's politics, but he doesn't have much use for the president's way of doing business with filmmakers, either. In a recent interview, Damon brought up Trump's rumored policy of needing to appear in any film that's shot in one of his buildings. Apparently, that explains that horrendous cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Matt Damon has never met Donald Trump, but he’s not a fan of the president, in part because of the demands he says filmmakers have to meet in order to shoot on his properties.
“The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part,” Damon, 46, told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview released Friday.

By taking home his second Razzie for Worst Director for "Transformers: Age of Extinction," action filmmaker Michael Bay now holds the distinction of being tied for the most "wins" in the category. He had previously prevailed in this category for the second instalment of the Transformers franchise, "Revenge of the Fallen" (2009). -Break- Only two other directors have taken home this dishonor on more than one occasion: John Derek prevailed first for "Bolero" (1984) and then for "Ghosts Can't Do It" (1990), which was the last film he directed before he passed in 1998. And M. Night Shyamalan was recognized for "Lady and the Water" (2006) and "The Last Airbender" (2010), 20 years after Derek had set the record in the category.
