Flaming Cloud is screening at New York Asian Film Festival
In a story that seems to combine Disney fairy tales and Chinese Folklore, “Flaming Cloud” opens in a casino above the clouds, where a number of deities wager on the lives of mortals to pass the time. Although the bets seem innocent for the most part, the appearance of a newcomer, who is willing to bet on the existence of true love,...

Producers of “The Garcias” have re-acquired the rights to the family comedy series from HBO Max and are shopping the show to other buyers.
HBO Max canceled the series after Season 1 aired last year. New Cadence Prods. has reclaimed the streaming and international rights to the 10 episodes and is seeking a new home for the show that revolves around a large, multicultural and multigenerational Latino family.
HBO Max still had nine years left on its license for Season 1 of “The Garcias” after dropping the series. New Cadence, headed by “The Garcias” co-creator/showrunner Jeff Valdez and investor Sol Trujillo, struck a deal with HBO Max that gives them the ability to produce new episodes of the series and sell the existing episodes to a rival outlet. New Cadence’s deal with HBO Max already was structured so as to ensure that the company retained long-term ownership of “The Garcias” outright.

In Rhayne Vermette’s feature debut Ste. Anne, the director plays Renée, a woman who returns home to the titular town after a four-year absence. Her daughter Athene has been under the care of Renée’s brother and sister-in-law during the interim, and this unexpected arrival comes with multiple questions that never get answered. While dialogue and a soundtrack exist, there’s a palpable quietude to the proceedings, casting a ruminative atmosphere over the film’s lush images shot in 16mm.Vermette herself ran away from home at the age of 32. She explains the event in the description for her 2016 short film Les Châssis de Lourdes: “Dramatically, I left with only my cat and copies of all the still and motion images taken by my father (these dating until the mid 1990s when he then passed his camera down to me).” Across 18 minutes, she constructs a collage with these home videos and photographs,...

Exclusive: The murder and disappearance of a slew of Grateful Dead fans is the subject of a true crime podcast from Tenderfoot TV, the company behind the Atlanta Monster and Up and Vanished series.
Disgraceland host Jake Brennan has teamed up with Tenderfoot TV co-founder Payne Lindsey in Dead and Gone, a true crime music mystery set in the world of Jerry Garcia’s psychedelic rock band.
It will look at how, over the past five decades, a number of Dead Heads are missing, unidentified or dead. One fan died in a car accident, one was murdered and dumped in a ditch, while many others are missing.
The company, which was founded by Lindsey and Donald Albright, has also renewed Neil Strauss’ To Live and Die in LA for a second season and lined up basketball series Whistleblower. All three series, which are produced in association with all produced in...

One woman narrowly missed the grips of the Baseline Killer, a notorious Arizona serial killer on the prowl in the mid-2000s. Another man was aboard the American Airlines Flight 63 when Richard Reid, the “shoe bomber,” was apprehended. Then there’s the guy who had a recurring nightmare about an evil babysitter — a dream that could very well be a memory. These are all stories explored in Tenderfoot TV’s and Cadence 13’s podcast Radio Rental, created by Payne Lindsey and hosted by Rainn Wilson under the name Terry Carnation.

It's Ok to admit it.
Twinkle All the Way gave you Christmas bumps, didn't it?
Lifetime is determined to get you in the Christmas spirit, and now that the Turkey holiday is nearly behind us, there's no reason not to be feeling the holiday spirit.
Sarah Drew is no longer on Grey's Anatomy, but she has another Lifetime holiday movie under her belt.
She's earning a title as one of Lifetime's Christmas Queens.
If you missed April Kepner, then you got a little taste of her via Cadence Clark. Yes, that was her name, and it's fabulous. It still didn't have anything on a grown woman named Twinkle, but brilliant, nonetheless.
Cadence had a familiar anal-retentive quality reminiscent of one of Grey's Sloan's former fan-favorites, and it makes you wonder what Sarah Drew is like in real life since she plays these type of characters so well.
Cadence was passionate about wedding planning,...

"American Idol" hopeful Matt Farmer had quite the story when he auditioned for Season 12 of the Fox reality series in Long Beach, CA.
When he appeared in the Jan. 30 episode, Farmer told Ryan Seacrest that he was serving overseas in Iraq and he was injured when an Ied exploded. "I just remember waking up in the hospital in Kuwait," he explained. "I was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury." Farmer added that he was instructed that the medication he was taking would make him sterile, but six months later, he found out he'd be the father of now-three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Cadence, who joined him for the audition.
But just days after Farmer's "American Idol" episode aired, Farmer admitted that his story was fabricated on GuardianOfValor.com after multiple testimonials claimed he was falsely representing himself.
"Everything you have read is correct. It was All lies. I in fact Have lied since a...

In a role that shouldn’t be too much of a stretch, Martin Sheen has been cast as the father of the character played by his real-life son, Charlie Sheen, in the FX TV comedy series Anger Management.
The show is already very much a family affair as another sibling, Ramon Estevez, is an executive producer. However, it’s not yet a full house for the Sheen/Estevez clan as there’s no sign of sister Renée or brother Emilio, who’s probably too busy with his directing career or coaching under-achieving PeeWee hockey teams.
This won’t be the first time that Sheen has worked with his son either, having starred with him in Two and a Half Men, Cadence, Hot Shots Part Deux and Wall Street (in which he also played the father of Sheen junior).
Martin Sheen recently gave an excellent performance as Uncle Ben in the The Amazing Spider-Man (another fatherly,...
