While we were all sad to hear that Michael Caine is retired, he most certainly earned the right to just kick back and just spend his days reading…or writing. And that’s just what Michael Caine has done, releasing his first novel at the age of 90.
Michael Caine’s thriller, Deadly Game, finds career criminal catcher Dci agent Harry Taylor tracking down a mysterious box of uranium and various nefarious types who might be tied to the contents. While I haven’t read the book in its entirety, the first few pages – and the plot itself – give off the sort of vibe of the movies that Michael Caine would have starred in in the ‘60s and ‘70s. No doubt that the lead character’s name, Harry, calls to mind his recurring spy character Harry Palmer and vigilante Harry Brown, the titular character that gave Caine one of the meatiest...

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 4 Today, acting legend Sir Michael Caine discussed his upcoming film, "The Great Escaper," along with some shocking (or not) news: it will also be his last film.
As Caine tells it, he already considered himself retired when he received the script and turned it down three times. Reading it eventually won him over. Caine fell so "in love" with the script that he decided it would be a good high note to end his 70+ year career on. Caine said:
"I kept saying I'm gonna retire. Well, I am now because I figured, I've had a picture where I've played the lead, and it's got incredible reviews. The only parts I'm likely to get now are old men, 90-year-old men — well, maybe 85, you know? And I thought, 'Well, I might as well leave with all this. I've got wonderful reviews. What am I gonna do to beat this?...

Sir Michael Caine has confirmed he is officially retiring from acting.
The Oscar-winning actor made an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Today talk show to discuss his upcoming and now-final film, The Great Escaper. The Warner Bros. movie is based on the true story of World War II veteran Bernard (Bernie) Johnson, who, in the summer of 2014, snuck out of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France.
“Funny enough, I’d retired when I was sent the script, and I turned it down three times, but I kept falling in love with him every time I read it, and so I did it,” Caine said on the radio show of William Ivory’s script. The film is directed by Oliver Parker and co-stars the late Glenda Jackson.

The actor’s novel, Deadly Game, features an ex-Sas police officer called Harry who must grapple with neo-Nazis, wealthy Russians and Colombian drug cartels
Deadly Game, the debut novel from Michael Caine, will be published in the UK and US in November, it has been announced.
The actor, 90, has long harboured the desire to write a thriller, and was inspired to do so by a news item, says his UK publisher, Hodder’s Rowena Webb, about “the discovery of uranium by workers on a dump in London’s East End”. The novel’s lead character is Dci Harry Taylor, who, according to the synopsis, is “called in when just such a package is found, mysteriously abandoned in Stepney and stolen before the police can reclaim it. As security agencies around the world go to red alert, it is former Sas man Harry and his small team from the Met...
