Quotes

  • Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : Rather than messing up with me inside the courtroom, it's better we settle matters outside it Govind. You know very well, Indrajit Chaddha can't be defeated.

Govind : [Smiling sarcastically]  Chaddha, have you ever seen kids extracting kites from electrical wires ?

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Confused]  What ?

Govind : There happen to be wires from whom even kids can extract their kites, no matter how entangled. Thats a different thing though. By taking up Damini's case, you've touched a wire which will unleash such an electrical buzzer upon you that you'll forget getting bumps once and for all.

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Irritated]  The rope is burnt, but it seems some tensile strength remains. Gupta is willing to pay 400 thousand. For the reputation of a girl, this amount is fairly sufficient.

Govind : [Sarcastically]  You've made a lot of progress Chaddha, from brokering of justice you've come down to auctioning of honour ! This profession is called PIMPING !

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Furiously shouting]  Govind...... ..

Govind : [Replying even loudly]  Don't dare scream. Or I'll wrap this case right here, right now. No hearing dates, no verdicts. Just plain justice

[crushing his cigarette on Amrish Puri's face]

Govind : that too is gonna be blistering.

[Annoyed at Amrish Puri's henchman drawing a machete]

Govind : Chaddha, explain to him that such toys can now be purchased at nearby shops. But you can't buy the guts required to operate them from any market on earth. MEN are born with it.

[Threatening Amrish Puri with his fists]

Govind : And when this two and a half kg hand lands on someone, he doesn't just wake up,

    [pointing up hinting death]

Govind : he simply RISES UP !

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Humiliated]  I'll answer of this in the court tomorrow.

Govind : [Pointing his fingers on Amrish Puri]  And remember, if you dare misbehave there, I'll beat the hell out of you. Judge will keep screaming for order and you'll keep getting punched.

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : Relax young man

[slipping and held by Sunny Deol by the shoulder, before being threatened to leave]

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : .

  • Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [On seeing protests in the factory and the servants leaving the house after the case slowly turns against him]  Now this fight is not only between us and Damini, Mr. Gupta. On one side are these people who've been bearing the injustices we've inflicted upon them all these years. And on the other side are us. Damini created a power along with the common man. Now there's only one way out of this mess. Just as Urmi's murder was made to look like a suicide, Damini's death will have to be fabricated as a road accident. The flame torch of truth which she's carrying with her can be extinguished only by her blood.

Shekhar Gupta : [Entering the room clapping sarcastically]  Great, simply marvelous. A woman whose faith you couldn't buy, whose truth you cannot fight, whose faith you cannot break, by deciding to kill her, you are giving a good proof of being a man.

Mr. Gupta (Shekhar's dad) : [In paranoia]  Just stop talking rubbish.

    [Lighting his cigarette in fear]

Mr. Gupta (Shekhar's dad) : Everyone is insulting us in the city. This is now the only way we can save what's left of our prestige in the society.

Shekhar Gupta : [Furiously]  Prestige? What prestige, dad? In whose house an innocent girl has been raped, does he talk about respect? The one who has killed a helpless weak girl in the hospital, does he talk about respect? The one who thinks about the death of his daughter-in-law, does he talk about respect? Where is the respect? Where is that respect? It is better to die in shame than to live with such dignity. How many more crimes will you commit to cover up one crime? You don't even know that you have stooped so low! Today I'm proud that I'm Damini's husband, but I feel ashamed of calling myself Kedarnath Gupta's son! Don't touch me!

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Trying to intimidate Rishi Kapoor]  Don't you even have the manners how to behave with your father...

Shekhar Gupta : [Snatching Amrish Puri by his collar in a threatening tone]  Enough, Chaddha, Enough! I feel like killing you right here. But I won't kill anyone, and I will regret for this.

    [as he's leaving the room]

Shekhar Gupta : And listen up all of you, tomorrow during the hearing I'll be making my statement in Damini's favour. Do what you can.

  • Shekhar's Uncle : [Crying on being told about Sunny Deol taking Meenakshi Sheshadri's case]  We're dead and buried Jijaji, nobody can save us now. I am telling you, there're gonna be only two outcomes, either we're going to Jaunpur or straight away to mental asylum.

Mr. Gupta (Shekhar's dad) : [Replying furiously]  SHUT UP ! Jaunpur Jaunpur, have you gone paranoid ?

Shekhar's Uncle : I am merely paranoid. Soon, all of us are gonna go insane. Our dear Mr. Chaddha over here, remember what he said ? That girls like Damini are nothing more than dragonflies in his pants. Didn't you say so !

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Replying in an angry tone]  Mamaji, first of all you better learn to stay inside your clothing.

    [Gets up from his sofa]

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : That alcoholic Govind will save Damini ? Last time I set him up with delayed hearing dates to the point he forgot his way to the court. This time too will be the same.

    [Flings his hair backwards]

  • Govind : [Cross examining Viju Khote in the witness box]  So Mangesh, Mr. Gupta has been your employer for the past 5 years.

    Mangesh : Yes.

Govind : And he entrusts you with the repairs and maintenance of all the cars in his household ?

    Mangesh : Absolutely.

Govind : So on the eve of Holi, when one of the cars went missing, Mr. Gupta must've been desperately searching for you isn't it.

Mangesh : [In a slip of tongue]  No Sir, the keys of the gypsy aren't with me.

Govind : [Catching him speak the truth]  How did you know the car was the gypsy ?

Mangesh : [Looking at Amrish Puri and unable to think]  I came to know about it later that the gypsy was missing.

Govind : You mean you came to know that Rakesh used the gypsy later on, correct ?

[as Viju Khote is still unable to answer]

Govind : Ok Mangesh, you can go.

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Chastising Viju Khote in a lowered voice]  Bloody fool.

Govind : [Noticing Amrish Puri]  Hold it Mangesh, it seems Mr. Chadda wants to say something. Mr. Chadda ?

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : No nothing.

[Scene cuts to Vijayendra Ghatge in the witness box]

Govind : [Cross examining Vijayendra Ghatge in a mocking manner]  Inspector Kadam, is it possible that Urmi cut her throat with the suicide note in her hands ?

Inspector Kadam : [Caught lying on his previous testimony]  I... .I... ..

    Govind : [In a funny manner]  Inspector Kadam I don't understand this I, I, I stuttering language.

    [Turns to Amrish Puri]

Govind : Mr. Chadda are you able to comprehend what Inspector Kadam is saying ? Ohh I forgot, you don't even understand common sensible things.

    [Turns to the judge]

Govind : Your Honor, Urmi's ration card had her thumbprint not her signature. Unfortunately her assassins failed to take a note of this, in the same manner as Mr. Chadda over here doesn't understand common sense.
