Storyline
Plot Summary |
In the prom night, Heather finds her boyfriend Barry kissing another girl, Brenda. Irritated, she goes to his car and leaves the party, but Barry reaches her. While driving and arguing, they find that their friends Jenny and Sean are in the back seat of his car smoking pot. They find a detour on the road, and Heather has a car crash. The other driver is wounded and Barry, Heather and Jenny seek out help while Sean stays with the victim. They stumble upon the office of Darla and she calls her boyfriend Vilmer that has a tow truck to help them, and they leave her place to return to their car. However, Barry and Heather run after a car to hitchhike and separate from Jenny. They stumble upon a farmhouse where Leatherface and W.E. "welcome" them. Meanwhile the deranged Vilmer finds Sean and the wounded driver and kills them. When Jenny gets a ride from Vilmer on the desert road, she learns how crazy he is and leaves him, meeting Leatherface in the woods in an insane night. Did You Know?
Trivia | Matthew McConaughey had just graduated college and planned on moving to California when he auditioned for this movie. He read for the part of a young motorcyclist who rescues Jenny at the end and rides off with her into the sunset (a role that was eventually eliminated). Before he left, writer / producer / director Kim Henkel asked if he knew of anyone who might be right for the role of the villain, Vilmer. McConaughey suggested two friends from acting class and left. He was about to get in his truck and drive to California when he stopped and realized, "What was I thinking?" He immediately turned around and asked Henkel, "Hey, can I audition for Vilmer?" Henkel gave him a spoon from the kitchen, told him to pretend it's a knife and tasked him with scaring his secretary. Then, in the middle of the audition, he told him to pretend his mechanical leg was malfunctioning. McConaughey was so convincing that he won the role of Vilmer on the spot. See more » |
