Longtime Bob Dylan fans know Rolling Thunder Revue as one of the enigmatic singer-songwriter’s most legendary tours, so it should come as little surprise that Martin Scorsese decided to indulge in some mythmaking of his own for “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story.”
For this would-be definitive chronicle of the people, places and music involved in Dylan’s 1975-76 concert series, Scorsese combines vintage footage with modern-day interviews — not all of them real — for a vibrant, engaging portrait of Dylan then and now, filling gaps in his own inscrutable history while simultaneously showcasing some of his most eclectic and vivid performances.
Framed by the United States’ impending bicentennial, Rolling Thunder was conceived as a response to the stadium tour he’d done with the Band the previous year, an opportunity to play smaller venues at lower ticket prices and to connect with fans in a more intimate way.

Even after 45 years, no one can agree on why Bob Dylan called that tour “Rolling Thunder Revue” — it might be one of those things that only gets more elusive over time. The “Revue” part is easy enough: Dylan was famous enough to do what he wanted, but too frazzled to do it alone, so he extended an open invitation to the best minds of his generation to join him for a series of intimate shows across the United States; it would be a folk happening and a freewheeling gypsy caravan and a chance for a busful of beautiful seekers to go out and look for whatever it was they were trying to find.
The reason for “Rolling Thunder,” on the other hand, is a bit harder to pin down. Some say that Dylan was inspired by a storm that clapped its way across the East Village. Others have suggested that...

The first trailer for Derek Cianfrance’s (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines) adaptation of the M.L. Stedman novel The Light Between Oceans has arrived and it’s as heartbreaking as you can imagine. The story follows Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander as Tom and Isabel Sherbourne, a lighthouse-keeping couple who are very much in love but can’t seem to make a baby. As luck would have it, a healthy baby turns up in a boat, and from the trailer you can see that luck has a way of running out.
This reminds me a lot of the Steve Martin comedy/drama A Simple Twist of Fate, but with less Martin of course. Things are going to get deep when The Light Between Oceans will open September 2nd.

A group of Swedish scientists have spent the past 17 years not thinking twice and sneaking Bob Dylan lyrics into their back pages. But it's all right. The group's competition dates back to when a team from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm published a paper about, er, flatulence, titled, "Nitric Oxide and Inflammation: The Answer Is Blowing in the Wind." "We both really liked Bob Dylan and we thought the quotes really fitted [sic] nicely with what we were trying to achieve with the title," Professor Eddie Weitzberg told The Local. The trend continued, until a few years later, when a sharp-eyed...

A simple twist of fate changed the lives of Deb Dobkins (Brooke D’Orsay) and Jane Bingham (Brooke Elliott) forever. Deb died and, after mistakenly pushing the wrong button at Heaven’s door, returned in the body of Jane. This meant one thing: Deb as Jane needed a guardian angel. For the first couple of seasons of Drop Dead Diva, Jane was under the watchful eye of her guardian angels Fred (Ben Feldman), then Luke (Carter MacIntyre). But Jane proved to be a bit more of a handful than either anticipated. Now trying his luck in protecting Jane is the latest angel on watch, the enthusiastic Paul (Justin Deeley). In a recent exclusive interview, star Justin Deeley talked about his new role as Paul, guardian angel and newest employee at the firm of Kaswell & French.

Tna Impact Wrestling!
5/1/11
This weeks Impact begins with Sting coming to the ring. I love how no matter what other clothes hes wearing he never forgets his skeleton gloves. I once knew a Goth like that. Sting calls out another man reliving his teenage years, Jeff Hardy. If he ever left them that is. Sting tells him hes been impressed lately. Jeff Hardys face is half painted, half not. Sting says he once took his second chance and made something of it, just like Jeff Hardy is now. “There’s creatures out there that adore you and look up to you.” Some of his fans are definitely creatures. Hardy chant amongst them now as Sting gives Jeff his full 100% Endorsement. This brings out Roode, Angle and Bully Ray. They get in the ring and call him out on endorsing Jeff Hardy and that not being fair and square. He accuses...

Back from a short hiatus with this Impact recap and Tonight Sting has given us a World Heavyweight Title Rematch to open the show!
Tna World Title Match
Five Minute Overtime Rematch from Final Resolution
Aj Styles vs. Robert Roode (Champion)
Is it just me or does everyone’s entrance in Tna start with that tilted camera long shot? Here’s our five minutes on the clock and Roode immediately tries to run down the clock by getting out of there. Styles follows him out and rolls him back in, covering him with a cross body. Hard whips and a back body drop. This match is One fall, not Iron Man like at the PPV. They exchange side headlocks and kick outs. Aj Rolls him up for two. We’re at three minutes left and Roode wants a time out. Ref for some reason holds Aj back,...

While Miley Cyrus isn't the first person to come to mind when making a wishlist of artists to cover Bob Dylan songs, we have to admit -- we're really looking forward to this album.
Miley and a host of her contemporaries have joined forces to pay tribute to both Bob Dylan and Amnesty International with a new cover album. The record, titled "Chimes of Freedom," features a huge variety of artists -- from Pete Seeger to Ke$ha.
"Glee" star Darren Criss even makes a contribution to the four-disc compilation, covering New Morning with his brother, Chuck Criss, and his band the Freelance Whales. The jam-packed album, which "salutes Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and life-saving human rights work," is set for a January 24 release. Check out the list of songs and artists below to see which classic your favorite singer will be covering.

Tna Impact Wrestling. 10th November 2011
First we recap Roode smashing a bottle over Storm to take his world title from him, with further emphasis on the spit and some epic music just to emphasise the heel turn. Then we are in Georgia for Impact Wrestling. And Robert Roode is first out with his new World Title and music that proclaims him to be off the chain. He says that each and every one of us would have done what he did. He tells us this is a generation of selfishness and he is the leader. Doing things the right way in society today gets you nowhere. In a picture in picture shot we see James Storm at the Gorilla position watching, then getting stopped by security when he tries to come out. That’S interesting, I like that. Finally wrestling addresses the question “Why do they only interrupt after letting them speak for ten minutes.

We kick off with a Hulk Hogan video package because he claims that his run is finally over and tonight we allegedly have his retirement ceremony coming up. Imagine ending a long term career like that in Tna. He’s got to be depressed. Not that I’ll ever believe he’s finished for good. Hogan and Bischoff arrive in the parking lot.
Beer Money are on their way out together, despite having to face each other tonight. Storm says its about damn time Hulk Hogan took a back seat and gave the young guys a chance to entertain the fans. Agreed. Storm tells Hogan to have fun trying to follow their match tonight because they plan on tearing this son of a bitch down in Knoxville Tennessee. Roode takes the mic and plugs James as the Tennessee cowboy and welcomes him home. Roode says Fortune...

HollywoodLife.com interviewed Alex exclusivley and she told us two people came up to her from VIP and said she looked so cute she should be Justin’s One Less Lonely Girl. Of course she said yes! Alex got a VIP pass for back stage and was seated in the middle of the stage.
“I waited on the stage and they came and got me,” Alex told us. “I was sitting on the chair and he was touching my face,...

Earlier this month, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy performed a solo show at the Vic Theatre in Chicago. During the concert, he played a number of covers, including “Twist of Fate” (your blogger’s favorite Bob Dylan song), Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees,” and “Strangers,” originally by the Kinks. He also treated the audience to a spoken-word version of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies.” Tweedy joins Liza Minnelli, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and some Glee stars as the latest artist to offer his or her own take on the 2008 pop hit. The genesis of the performance was an audience request that Tweedy play “Ashes of American Flags,” the third-best song off Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, or the Beyoncé ditty. He chooses the latter, and attempts to actually sing the song for about three verses before he delves into deadpan recitation. “He’s a man that makes me and takes me/And delivers me to a destiny,...
