Tobin Bell stands out in this derived 'cat and mouse' thriller.
kclipper11 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Serial Killer profiler, Selby Younger (Kim Delaney, who's always good), is after William Morrano, (Tobin Bell, 10 years before his infamous role as "Jigsaw" in the gruesome 'Saw' series) who just loves playing twisted mind games back and forth with the police in this decent derivative of the Thomas Harris 'Hannibal Lecter' novels. This has some good twists and turns as Morrano gets inside Selby's head, trying to convince her that she has the same unique qualities that make up his pathological mind, driving her mad in the process and troubling her relationship with cop, Gary Hudson. It's a well-directed thriller, and Tobin Bell's prototype, smart serial killer performance is chillingly effective, and the beautiful Kim Delaney is convincing, but this looks too much like a T.V. movie, lacking any grittiness or bloodshed, a quality that makes these types of films disturbing, and Pam Grier is completely wasted. Still, its worth a look.

Serial victim (web)

Another movie with Kim in which she is the prey of an insane and dangerous criminal. This one is very faraway of the excellent « closer & closer » and if slightly better than « love and treason », the quality is still low value : i'm just tired by those cop movies, serial killer, guns and violence… I understand Kim did it in 1995, so along her 1st season in NYPD. So she was 34 then and just totally charming : sure she is dynamic and great in action but she has also this fragility, this soft point that appears clearly when she talks. She is strong-will but also not totally confident and that's this duality that made her a great actress ! Here the movie fits her like her glove but in the same time it's stupid (a FBI profiler shouldn't be afraid !) and already seen a thousand times ! The only thing i remember is that the killer was the dangerous albinos in « the firm » ! In other words, it's only because Kim was in that I picked it up !

Generic title.

Warning: Spoilers
In Serial Killer, Selby Younger, a member of FBI Psychological Profile Unit tracks Morrano, a vicious and intelligent serial killer. Before getting caught, Morrano attacks her leaving serious psychological wounds. Two years later, Morrano escapes and Selby, now working on a desk job, must face her personal traumas again.

The film's midday-movie-ish dull, with pretty awful leads and poor dialogue. It has Tobin Bell from "The X-Files", as the killer, whose suffice in the role and also has Pam Grier of "Jackie Brown" in a minor role. If the media reporter's going to give the details of the people hunting him, he should definitely go there and kill her, I like that. I don't know about her surviving though...

A Good Thriller That Recalls `The Silence of the Lamb'
claudio_carvalho4 January 2004
Selby Younger (Kim Delaney) is a psychologist from the FBI Psychological Profile Unit and having a relationship with detective Cole Grayson (Gary Hudson). She provides the profile of the serial killer William Lucian Morrano (Tobin Bell, with an outstanding performance), the criminal hurts her and is arrested by Cole. Two years later, Selby quits her position in FBI and is no longer with Cole. Morrano has cancer and is submitted to an experimental treatment. He recovers himself, escapes from the hospital and starts killing again, but in a different profile. Only friends of Selby are threatened. This thriller is very good, in the same line as `The Silence of the Lamb'. Tobin Bell is excellent as a serial killer. Having a better actor to perform Cole, and a few improvements on the screenplay, this could be an excellent film. Anyway, highly recommended for viewers who appreciate a suspenseful movie. My vote is seven.

Serial Killer!
Movie Nuttball27 January 2004
Serial Killer is a decent movie! It keeps you going and I like how isn't a mystery and lets the killer be known plus it gives him a lot of time to do the things he does! Anyway the cast is good and while I am really not familiar with Tobin Bell, he was very good as the serial killer! Good music and story! Recommended!

YAY for TOBIN!!!
jdclar9 July 2005
Y'all --Tobin Bell is so incredibly good in this movie --watch it just for him!--please! Jesus have mercy--it's worth it! Tobin is great, simply great!--beyond great! Seriously--if anyone has ever stolen a show, it's him in this one. My God! What a cool guy!--please let me be able to act like him one day!!

Frankly, if you consider yourself a Tobin fan, and you haven't seen this movie--you have issues!!! See it! And for those of you who don't really know much about Tobin--watch it and see for yourself! Believe me, you're gonna wanna see this guy in action. He truly does a spectacular job.
