- Because the film is documenting the uncontrollable events of destruction in nature, many people are killed. Examples include: Stan jumping into the stream of lava from the train car and sinking down into it as he dies

- Two fireman are swept away in a burning/melting truck into a stream of lava.
- A woman falls in the crack of the earth during the earthquake.
- A teenage daughters pants catch on fire but her father quickly puts it out
- A man get stuck in the rubble and his partner stays by his side and they get blown up by the detonation of the building blowing up.
- An injured man catches fire from the burning hose as the firefighters swing the ladder over to safety before putting the fire out.
- Some of these depictions of death may appear frightening.

- One death in particular could be considered the most disturbing. As Stan rescues a train driver, Stan sacrifices himself by jumping into a pool of lava, then throws the train driver over the lava. As this happens, Stan sinks down and gets melted.
