Fenner makes a time and motion study of the girls, but loses money on the deal. His potential buyer for the dresses is a gourmand, so he tries to get Reg and the girls to provide a slap up meal in his office.
Paddy gives Carole a home perm in the workroom and indirectly causes Fenner's permanent crease slacks to end up stiff as boards. The workers have to pretend to be French to get the order.
Brenda hides her baby in the workroom. Paddy demands a crèche for the girls' babies. They use some of Fenner's material to make a nappy, and Carole has to model a skirt with a panel missing.
Fenner installs a time-clock. The girls put £5 on a horse named Paddy at 20 to 1.. It wins, but Carole has inadvertently sown the betting slip into a blouse.
Fenner installs a vending machine. Lily discovers that it will accept buttons. When the girls receive their pay packets, they find they contain buttons instead of coins.
