Class of Beverly Hills was originally considered as the title of the series before it was changed to Beverly Hills, 90210.
Luke Perry is not in the Pilot Episode.
The show often dealt with issues faced by Jewish Americans because that was a subject Aaron Spelling wanted to explore that for various reasons he hadn't been able to cover on his other hit shows. Two of the main characters were Jewish, Andrea Zuckerman and David Silver. Andrea was entirely Jewish and played by a Jewish actress, while David was half-Jewish (dad was, mom was not) and played by a non-Jewish actor. Another regular cast member was Jewish but played a Christian character.
Carol Potter noted in an interview on E! that one thing she always regretted about the show was that it had no Persian-American representation, because the real high school that West Beverly was modeled after had a large number of students of Persian descent.
Djimon Hounsou played the bouncer at the night club in an uncredited role.
