This series marked the very first time that Tom and Jerry appeared in animated installments produced exclusively for television.
This show received complaints during its first run, as Hanna-Barbara Productions consequently cease production after the first season. Warner Bros. now owns the rights of this show and due to the negative attention it received since its debut, a complete series DVD box set would not occur.
This is the only incarnation Tom and Jerry are depicted as non-violent friend, which was required under "The Seal of Good Practice". Due to negative attention from fans of the Golden era from 1940-1967, this format is dismissed from latter Tom and Jerry incarnations, as this show ended after its first season.
The first Tom and Jerry premiered for a Saturday Morning cartoon network series and was broadcast on ABC in the 1970s.
