Two Mary Thievesue and their rascal little sister
kerorogio16 May 2021
An iconic series from the 80s, but which didn't particularly appeal to me in childhood. Certainly the protagonists are fascinating, and the scenes in which they demonstrated a certain agility were sufficiently well done for the time, but the ease with which they cleared away from the places of the theft or often knocked down anyone who obstructed them was not credible. Even with the poor and masochistically devoted Toshio, perpetually deceived and unable to see beyond his nose.

I have always found the use and exploitation of this naive and in love character depressing, practically he served as: involuntary informant, punching bag, vocal defender of the trio that humiliated him, mocked boyfriend and ... totally useless on a professional level. If the three thieving sisters are over-trained, Toshio as a cop is a complete failure, only capable of getting scolded by his boss. A difference in skill level that, in its own way, will also be seen in "Saint Tail", which clearly took inspiration from this work.

The relationship between Toshio and Hitomi is the saddest thing there can be, although she felt some affection for him, she did not hesitate to use it without remorse, and the reason that pushed her together with her sisters to gather the works of art of her father did not it was very exploited at the level of the plot, so it did not sweeten the sorrow for this poor naive.

Another annoying factor was the the place run by the tre girls, which despite having the same stage name and the same human composition of the band of thieves, never gave rise to a decently strong doubt, except briefly in a colleague of Toshio, obviously not supported by anyone else. In addition to this, the excessive number of episodes, the repetitiveness, combined with the daily happy ending for the "kittens", without real variations, also became tiring. To be clear and fair, I also complain about the total invincibility of Ryo Saeba, another creature of Tsukasa Hojo, absolutely fun and cool, but too predictable (and more ruthless in the comic) .

Some time ago I also took a look at the ending of the manga version of Cat's Eye, and although I am a person who appreciates happy endings, even partial, I could only consider it as really forced.

Great way to kill time if your an anime fan

The animated television show Cat's Eye was based off of a comic created by Tsukasa Hojo of City Hunter fame. It was the story of three girls who ran a cafe during the day and moonlighted as daring art theives at night. It's seems that the girls father, the famous painter Micheal Heinz had vanished and one of his creations held the secret to the mystery. Making the matter even further complicated was the fact that most of the stuff was turning up in the hands of dangerous criminals. Not a great show, but not with out it's charm either. Described as sorta of a Lupin III shoujo (girls manga) style, show Cat's Eye was fun if a bit repetitive. One thing I Could not figure out was how Toshio became a police detective in this show. The Theives are called Cat's Eye which consist of three girls, who might I add don't wear masks. Then there is a cafe called Cat's eye ran by three girls right next to the police station for crying out loud ! Oh well Cat's Eye is still a classic and the theme song is lovely, anime from a bygone era.

Must See It !!!

An excellent series with lot of humor, intelligent moves. The three sisters have stolen my heart from the beginning. I love them now even have passed 10 years from my first episode.:)From the start I was cached by the skills of this women, by the beauty that captures you.

Is a classic serial about interesting people, normal life ,different from the series that are made today: Sci-Fi,Fantastic, with people who has supernatural powers, who lives a beautiful and very easily life.I know that they do something wrong, they are art thieves, but you start to understand the reason for that.

A TV serial that will never lose his charm. A "must see it"!!!

A retro classic filled with action, comedy and romance
ja_kitty_714 May 2016
Here is a retro classic in anime that I automatically love after sneaking a peek at an episode on YouTube. The series is about three sisters: Rui, Hitomi, and Ai Kisugi, who are coffee shop owners by day. By night, they are slick art thieves known as "Cat's Eye."

Now I know for a fact that they never wanted a nightlife of crime, but it was the only way to piece together their papa's art collection to find out where he had disappeared all those years ago. But for middle sister Hitomi, it was really hard because her boyfriend, Toshio Utsumi, is a police detective out to catch the infamous "Cat's Eye." Out of the three sisters, I love Hitomi and Ai; Ai's such a darling. Anyway, I really love this anime series with its superb animation and a story filled with action, comedy, and romance; I really ship Hitomi and Toshi. Also, I wish the original manga was translated into English.

Just didn't like it :/
Irishchatter13 September 2019
Opening song wasn't catchy enough to get me attention

Characters just weren't interesting

Even though it's a 1980s show, it looked like more like a cheap kids show than a serious Charlies Angels type of show...

Disappointing...
