A RISING STAR (Starring Ashlyn Gere and Sandra Scream, in the early days of their adult film careers) is, in every way, just like most of the porn of its time. It was past the plot-heavy porno that played in the theatres of the 1970's and well into the days of home video. Nevertheless, this little adult movie did attempt to have something of a plot, however thin and pointless.
The story behind this movie, if actually watched, deals with the scenes behind the making of a porno, in which an adult video director desperately tries to get a movie made while dealing with the challenges presented by diva performers. The acting is non-existent, of course, but that's not the point of watching this, is it? As the fictional hot-headed director says to her performers, "You want a motivation? You're getting f**ked, how's that for motivation?"
The sex scenes aren't too bad. Ashlyn Gere is plenty hot, although she only gets one scene, and this movie does come chock full of the standard fare: it doesn't waste any time getting to the obligatory lesbian scene, and with the exception of those bits disrupted by the disgruntled director, the male-female copulation is pretty good. Nothing too fancy is contained here; in other words, there are no three-ways or sodomy or anything like that.
Overall, this is not one of those classic adult films worth hunting down, as it is just as average as all adult film was in the early 90's. The only point to finding this would be if you happen to be a completest or a big fan of any of the more prominent performers appearing therein.
