Termites Are As Busy As a Beaver
boblipton9 September 2018
When a beaver builds a house, a freeloading bear and ostrich declare a housewarming party, invade his home and call in termites to destroy his house in this excellent Columbia color cartoon.

It's done in the candybox style of animation that denoted fine animation in the era, because that's what Walt Disney did -- unless, of course, you were working at Leon Schlesinger's studio, and were more interested in jokes. This one is pitched midway between, and shows off what Charles Mintz' studio could do when the staff set its mind to it; mostly, at the moment, it was helmless, since Mintz was ill and would die at the end of the year.

Danny Webb voices the bear like Lionel Stander. It's an inspired choice.
