"Alternate Realities" is a dark, dramatic piece, that contains underlying comedic elements. The main character, Crystal Farmer, is immediately dealt a big blow by discovering her mother in the aftermath of her unexpected suicide. Obviously distraught, Crystal ventures out of her familiar surroundings, searching for the real reason of her mother's demise. Taking clues she had discovered from her mother's belongings, Crystal is directed on a quest to seek out the father she hasn't seen in fifteen years. Crystal ends up in the heart of Hollywood, very much out of her element, confused and disoriented. Crystal is befriended by Candy, an eccentric, streetwise, young woman. Candy aides her new-found friend in solving the mysteries of her family's horrid past. Through a combination of the extremely vivid and visual memories, and through a brief, yet revealing psychic session, they delve deeper into Crystal's past. Ultimately revealing the true cause to her mother's suicide and the truth about her father.
