After a demanding evening spent bumping and grinding at The Harem Room, a weary young dancer packs up her gear and exits the club to a chorus of catcalls. She responds by whipping out a state-of-the-art shotgun and laying waste to not only to the would-be lotharios but a good section of Hollywood Boulevard. Is this the continuing story of Abel Ferrara’s Ms. 45? No, it’s Jack Sholder’s The Hidden, one of the wittiest B movies of the eighties.

Well, March is definitely “going out like a lamb” (as the old saying goes) when it comes to horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases, as there are only several different titles coming home this Tuesday.
Universal Studios is releasing J.A. Bayona’s heartbreaking modern fable, A Monster Calls, to both Blu-ray and DVD this week, and if you're a cult film fan, then you have a few fun movies to look forward to adding to your home collections: Witchtrap, Venom, and the four-film collection for Wishmaster, a new addition to the Vestron Video Collector’s Series.
Other notable releases for March 28th include Mortuary Massacre, The Abduction of Jennifer Grayson, Park Chan-Wook's The Handmaiden (which finally gets the Blu-ray treatment), and for the little monster fans, Monster High: Electrified.

If you’re like me, you probably spent a good chunk of your October revisiting a hell of a lot of horror films in prep for Halloween. Now, that’s not to say that I don’t watch horror flicks all year round, it’s just that the holidays tend to inspire me to break out some of the more obscure titles I own or just things that I haven’t seen in years. On this year’s queue for me were the Wishmaster movies. (They’ve made 4 if you’re counting, but I’m just talking about the first two for now.) Seeing them again recently reminded me just how much fun they are.
The first Wishmaster was presented by Wes Craven; it was one of the first films directed by Robert Kurtzman, the FX guru who made up one third of the Oscar winning team at Knb Efx Group,...
