Csupati, as his peers call him, is not a good-looking policeman, he is short, he has no authority even in front of women. He feels it too, which is why he wants a police dog by his side at any costs, but the trained ones have all been taken away. He finds a stray dog and tames him, and together they form a surprisingly successful pair, catching so many pickpockets that he ends up having to be promoted.

After his promotion and successful investigation, Csupati and his dog Kántor receive universal recognition from his colleagues, only his immediate superior finds problem in everything he does. His negative point of view has not changed even when a complicated money truck robbery case with a hint of murder is successfully uncovered by them.

The forester is visited by his long-lost nephew from the States, who comes to Hungary with a close friend of him for business purposes. Altough they may seem like fine gentlemen, they are actually petty criminals who make their living luxurious by robbing jewelry stores. But fate brings them together with even more petty criminals, whose mannerisms are not so sophisticated and as a result, the death toll in their surroundings skyrockets.

The cashier of a mining company has no luck in sports betting, but he meets a gentleman who is willing to lend him money at usurious interest. He begins to play big, experiences prosperity, even finds a pretty girlfriend, but soon becomes so much in debt that goons appear at his house. The gentleman makes him to steal the monthly wages of the miners to pay off his debt, and suggest him to flee abroad after they are halved. The cashier's vantage is small, the police will soon be on his trail.

Csupati and his team is alerted to the mysterious disappearance of a train that, among other things, was carrying money. The train is quickly recovered, but the hefty loot is not. Although the police want to chase the thief in a nearby city, Kántor catches smell and heads for the mountains to an old water-mill at the border. Csupati's bosses think they're on the wrong track when someone open fire on them from the mill.
