Nobles and parvenus.

Mon curé " is a character whose success was huge in France :this is the second version of "mon curé chez les pauvres" ,the first one made in the silent era .And there are also several versions of "Mon curé chez les pauvres"

The good cast makes up for the stupidity of the script : Bach as the priest , Henri Menteux as the distinguished bishop who thinks the vicar ought to use a language more refined than that slang he learned in the army. A nouveau riche (Alerme ,true to form) and his fickle wife (the exuberant Elvire Popesco ) have replaced the nobles in Sableuse village ; this ignorant parvenu also wants to become the mayor of the place .That's too much to endure for the ex-owner of the chateau ,the count of Sableuse ...
