Monsieur Thiers's clemency.
ulicknormanowen26 January 2023
These "petites" daughters pale into insignificance when they play opposite monstres sacrés Jean Tissier and Saturnin Fabre; the former is a genuine Italian marquis who considers the wings of the opera a " greenhouse " ;the latter is the opportunist flesh on the bone, who changes his politic opinions depending on which way the wind his blowing :now a Bonapartist, now a royalist, and at present time a "communard " soon to turn into a loyal supporter of Monsieur Thiers.

Although it takes place in 1871, when the Commune De Paris was crushed by Monsieur Thiers 's state troops, here there won't be any reprisals against Monsieur Cardinal in spite of a compromising photograph;at the time ,anyway the Commune De Paris was almost a taboo subject and the history books almost passed over this bloody page in silence .

Forget history and watch it for the actors.
