  • The term "replicant" that is used several times to describe the accused cyborg was coined in Blade Runner (1982), the first movie based on the work of Philip K. Dick. It appears nowhere in any of Dick's works.

  • One of the shots in the beginning of a rocket being launched is from Gattaca (1997).

  • In the opening narration, some shots from _Armageddon (1998)_, Starship Troopers (1997) and other science fiction-/disaster movies are used.

  • A street scene is filmed in a courtyard of Cal Poly Pomona's administration building, the same one used for Jude Law's apartment building in "Gattaca". Several students and staff of Cal Poly Pomona were used as extras for this scene.

  • The adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story "The Impostor" was originally planned to be one segment (about forty minutes) of a three-part science fiction movie. The production company liked the early "dailies" so much, that the idea was fleshed out into a feature length film.

  • All of the military equipment (except the weapons) are from Starship Troopers (1997). The pistols are mainly Glock 18's with cosmetic additions, and the soldier's main weapons are cosmetically modified Fabrique Nationale P90 submachine guns

  • Maya Olham watches a televised news report that refers to a Ballard space institute - a reference to J.G. Ballard, the British science fiction writer.

  • First movie to include actors from all three of the CSIs 1. Gary Sinise - Detective Mac Taylor from CSI New York 2. Gary Dourdan - Warrick Brown from CSI 3. Adam Rodriguez - Eric Delko from CSI Miami

  • Originally planned as a single 30-minute short as part of a feature of sci-fi/horror/comedy shorts by Miramax. The other segments also grew into the features Mimic (1997) and Alien Love Triangle (2002).

  • The medical scanner is a redesign of the surgery robot in Logan's Run (1976).
