Lee's tribute to Cherokee philosophy
lor_23 November 2023
The folkways and teachings of the Cherokee nation come alive in Hyapatia Lee's highly personal project for Vivid, a movie that would be considered sex-positive if made today. With husband Bud Lee producing, she is in full creative control of what plays more like a documentary in a New Age vein than a porn feature.

Stress here is on folk wisdom and a completely different belief in the importance of the balance of nature, worthiness of all living things and mankind's close relationship to the animal kingdom. With Hyapatia narrating, the cast of familiar porn performers, with the women supposedly cast all with Cherokee ancestry (though Shawnee Cates in real-life is Korean), sex acts ranging from '69' to what would be called hotwifing today are presented as aspects of Cherokee tradition.

Her beauty and sexiness emerge from what is a rather stoic presentation of sex and the legends are all quite interesting (though no actual snake dance is depicted). An outstanding musical score sets and sustains the mood, and Lee refrains from any gonzo content: only a single cum shot is included and is shot only in long shot, part of an overall tasteful presentation.
