Moment of Truth

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw Blind Date I always used to think that I hated Cilla Black being so happy and cheerful with that large smiley mouth. But this Saturday night show was actually pretty good. Cilla Black hosted a family show where someone tries to do something in front of the audience without failing. If they manage to do it they won brilliant prizes for their families. One of the highlights of the show was where they bring in a family and a member is chosen to perform a task. They show a weekly diary to show how they are doing and most of the time they won. It was just pleasure to see the tasks being performed and the joy of when they succeeded. I wish they would bring it back. Very good!

Great show - what happened to it?

Moment of Truth - the game where families compete for dream prizes, a classic.

I must admit, I remember filling in the application form we had sent off for. It was a chance to get anything you really wanted! Unfortunately, like many other families in the country, we were not picked to star on the show.

The fact that the show offered prizes that people could only dream about was fantastic - none of the modern day copies don't offer such a great reward. "Moment of Truth" was the best challenge show ever to hit TV.

And Cilla Black, what a great presenter! If there was one reason NOT to take this programme out of production, it was the legendary Cilla Black. Her talent shunned me every time I watched the programme, which always attracted me back to ITV on a Saturday evening to see it.

But what happened? This programme is now off air, only to be replaced by other such "challenge" shows, hosted by amateurs who have no presenting talent whatsoever*!

In my opinion, ITV should offer Cilla a contract she won't refuse, dig up that brilliant theme tune and start putting this show back on air!

*No offense intended at any particular presenter on a Saturday night "challenge" show.
