This truly terrific anime series has won many (by that I mean MANY): Countries include Japan itself, Saudi Arabia, Iran, France, England, and Canada.

As far as I remember it was winner of Best Animated Series many times in Iran, as well as being winner of Best Visual Effects/Graphics in an Animated Feature

Canada: It was the official election of Toronto Film Festival first when it began in 1980, I remember clearly (I was there when this happened)- two consecutive years

Arabia: Best Animated Series

etc.

The series was first rated G by all countries, later (1990s) it was rated a hard-PG by both Japan and France. The rating reason in France was (if I am getting the translation right): Rated PG for intense depictions of thematic elements and sad themes.

The series is about a girl (Perrine) who decides to travel with her mother to her grandfather after her father dies. Perrine's father is the son of his grandfather, but now that the grandfather's son is dead, he is not interested in seeing her Indian daughter-in-law nor his granddaughter. Perrine and her mother decide to journey to England and meet with the great/rich grandfather.

A good shoujo anime.

I have been watching anime and reading manga for almost 2 decades now. I saw Periinu Monogatari years ago when i was little, and I remember it as a good series.

It was more like a shoujo-type anime, in the same vein as Miyazaki Hayao's Alps no Shoujo Heidi or Igarashi Yumiko's Candy Candy. It had good stories and beautiful anime style art.

Maybe many people wont remember it, but it was aired repeated times. Once all episodes were aired, then it would be out of air for a while, then re-aired again and this happened several times.

It was very enjoyable.

Warning: Spoilers
This animation has a great story and etc.. everything of this production is a real masterpiece of work.

Whosoever claims to be a film or animation fanatic must have watched this before.

THE STORY: It is about Perrine (a biracial little blond cute girl, born of a French father and an Asian mother) who after his father's death, along her mother, their mule Parical and her dog Barron sets off from Bosnia to a city on the outskirts of Paris called MARACOURT, to find her Grand pa who is is a very wealthy factory owner in Spinning industry (who has become blind for 8 years). In the way, death again comes in her way and she loses her mother too. But she's stronger than that and finally gets to her final destination.

In there, She first refuses to tell people about her identity and picks a fake name as Orally. Months pass by and she lives through a lot of hardships such as Housing, food and clothing problems, when some day she gets an ideal opportunity in her grandpa's factory as a translator which lets her get closer to him. In there, she manages to steal the old man's stony heart by her very polite and kind behavior with him and people around them.

But the thing that still stops her from telling the truth is that her grand father says irrelevant things about his daughterinlaw and grand daughter (meaning Perrine herself) as he doesn't know her. Grand father is only and only waiting for his son to return but no one else... NOW WHAT DO YA THINK?

Will she ever tell the truth??

Will she ever hug her grand father and tell him how much she loves him like what she dreams every night??

DO YOU WANNA KNOW??!

It ain't hard to find out, just download all 53 25 minutes episodes of "THE STORY OF PERRINE 1978" and what and enjoy it... "Thanks for reading" "Jamal kianifar" Translator, Documebtary maker and a search fellow.
