Beautiful True Stories of Sympathy
claudio_carvalho19 March 2004
Warning: Spoilers
In Hungry, in the Second World War, Melvina 'Malka' Csizmadia is a eighteen years old girl, living with her two sisters and her mother neighbor to a Jewish ghetto. In the other side of the fence, she meets Szarany (Michael Rapaport), a Jewish soldier arrested and living in the ghetto. She offers to help him first through the delivery of letters to members of the resistance, and then digging a hole beneath a brewery to reach the ghetto. They are successful and many Jews, together with her family, escape to Czechoslovakia.

Second Story: 'We Are Circus'

In Germany, in the Second World War, Adolf Althoff (Tim Matheson) is the owner of a German circus that has belonged to his family for nine generations. Adolf and his wife Maria Althoff (Daryl Hannah) hide many Jews in the circus along the war period, saving them from the nazis.

Both true stories are very beautiful and show that even in the worst periods of mankind, good persons do exist, no matter their nationalities, ethnic groups or religions. These persons made the difference and the homage to what they did, showed through these films, is very fair. My vote is seven.
