Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” remains one of the most beloved classic rock songs of the 1980s. Bon Jovi’s co-writer said he wrote it in a place that reminded him of an infamous scene from a horror film. Fascinatingly, the lyrics of an earlier Bon Jovi song partially inspired “You Give Love a Bad Name.”
Bon Jovi’s ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ has a connection to Kiss
Desmond Child is a professional songwriter who became famous for working with classic rock acts like Alice Cooper (“Poison”), Aerosmith (“Dude Looks Like a Lady”), and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (“I Hate Myself for Lovin’ You”), as well as pop singers such as Katy Perry (“Waking Up in Vegas”), Ricky Martin (“Livin’ la Vida Loca”), and Ava Max (“Kings & Queens”). One of his most famous songs is Kiss’ disco/hard rock smash “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.

Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

In the mid-1980s, Jon Bon Jovi was preparing for his make-or-break third album with his namesake band Bon Jovi. The album that would eventually be known as Slippery When Wet was still in the planning stages when Jon and Richie Sambora were introduced to songwriter Desmond Child. During their first meeting, Child handed Jon a song title that would launch the band into the stratosphere, “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Jon’s jaw-dropping reaction predetermined the tune’s mega-success.
Jon Bon Jovi had a surprise reaction to ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’
In an interview for Shout it Out Loudcast, Desmond Child recalled first meeting Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist and songwriter Richie Sambora. During that meeting, the genesis of one of the band’s biggest hits took place.
Child recalled, “I went to New Jersey to write at this little wooden house at the end of this cul-de-sac.

This article contains spoilers for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."
One of the things that makes the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies special is that they feel like weirdo Troma movies, filtered down to a PG-13. These "Guardians" movies may not push the envelope of good taste, or even bad taste, the way that a sleazoid weirdness factory like "Tromeo and Juliet" did, but they still hail from the same writer: James Gunn, who's got an unusual and mostly effective knack for combining bizarre tones and genres. He wrote a scene in which Romeo ripped open Juliet's stomach and ate popcorn from it, and it didn't ruin the romance. Now that's talent!
And sure enough, despite that PG-13 rating, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" does an impressive job of feeling R-rated. Faces get ripped off, an f-bomb gets launched, and even though the Marvel Cinematic Universe is supposedly family-friendly,...

Allison Williams has become a fashion force on the red carpet ever since she gained stardom as Marnie on Girls. And now the Get Out star, 29, is harnessing her style power for good, teaming up with Horizons National for the 10 Days of Giving Campaign.
For the campaign, Williams tapped a handful of her favorite brands — like Keds, Jennifer Meyer, Smashbox and more — to donate some of their most beloved items. Then, she’s selling them at a discount (like $50 for a pair of Keds shoes instead of $65), and all proceeds will be donated to Horizons National, a non-profit that focuses...

Check out this exclusive sneak peek clip of the Thursday, Jan. 16 episode of "White Collar," titled "Shot Through the Heart."
It picks up right where we left off last week, with Peter (Tim DeKay) and Neal (Matt Bomer) discovering that Rebecca (guest star Bridget Regan) is not what she seems to be, faking her kidnapping and possibly working with Curtis Hagen all along.
Peter surmises that she chose her apartment because it was outside Neal's anklet radius, so he could never come visit her. Neal wants to confront Rebecca but Peter says without evidence they can't say a peep yet.
Siegel was killed just blocks away and Peter wants to know what's been going on, with them both thinking Rebecca was the one who shot him. Do you suppose that's it? Or is there more to it than that?
"White Collar" airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on USA.

In this week’s episode of True Blood — “The Sun” — Billith is so overwhelmed by his very visceral empathy for the vampires tortured and killed on Governor Burrell’s orders that he slips into the same kind of coma that I did during last season’s Smoke Monster storyline. But this is no ordinary coma. While Jessica prays for his swift awakening, he’s… well, read on. I’ll tell you all about it.
Psychic Fiends Network | In “no place,” Bill is informed by Lilith that — sorry, no dice — he is not a god. However, he will play an important role in the end days.

It was rock and roll week on the April 3 episode of ‘American Idol.’ Some contestants rocked while others flopped. Read the full recap below.
The top 7 took on classic rock songs while judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson listened intently. Plus, is a love connection forming between Burnell Taylor and Amber Holcolm?
The Top 7 Sing Rock & Roll
Burnell Taylor sang “Shot Through The Heart.” “I’ve never seen you look more uncomfortable up there,” Keith said. “Even outside your genre, stay Burnell because that’s what people are voting for,” Nicki said. Randy said he was behind the tempo.
Lazaro and Angie did a duet to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Lazaro sort of forgot the words…again. “Overall, not bad,” Nicki said. “Angie you sounded really good. Lazaro, you got better as the song went on,” Randy said. “It wasn’t a great duet for me,...

Ben Affleck claimed the Directors Guild of America Award for Argo on Saturday in Hollywood’s latest thumb-in-the-eye to the small group of filmmakers in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who failed to nominate him for an Oscar.
“I worked really, really hard to become the best director I could be, by putting in as hours as I can, and banging my head against a wall, berating myself, lying to myself about whether it’s going to work,” Affleck told the crowd, never mentioning the snub. “Basically, I got to a...

A few readers have expressed dismay that I never talk about Angelina Jolie's directorial debut. There have even been suggestions that I have it in for Angelina. If by "in" you mean Love Her, than yes, I most definitely have it in for her. She once walked right past me and made eye contact (in a non-professional setting -- i.e. i wasn't reporting on anything and she wasn't promoting anything) and I absolutely treasure the memory. The reasons for not covering her film before are several but dull and almost all of them boil down to two things:
1. This is not the kind of blog that fawns endlessly on every detail of pre production and filming and multiple marketing events before a movie is released. The Film Experience prefers actual movies -- even old ones (gasp!) -- to theoretical and future movies, as out of fashion as that may be on the internet.

It’s been a little over a week, and a melting pot full of titles released, since Steam officially set foot into the Mac world. I am a Mac user myself and I jumped right in the day it was available.
If you are looking for a quick read, here’s the short of it: I adore Steam for Mac. It’s great to have the large catalog of games available, with more to come. The games look great, spare the occasional bug, but Valve is constantly pushing out updates to ensure a flawless Mac experience with Steam.
Continue after the jump for my overall perspective of the experience.
A Brief(ish) History:
It’s been almost four years since I’ve been on Steam. It’s nothing against the platform, life just played out that way. My PC crashed and I couldn’t afford a new one at the time.
