Filming began in May 1969, but it was soon halted when Welch's Myra Breckinridge (1970) went into production. Filming resumed later that fall after the movie was finished.
Because of the elaborate set-ups and plentiful exotic locations, it ultimately cost $350,000 to make this TV special.

Due to delays and a vast array of production locales, the arduous shoot spanned 91 days. On the 90th day, while performing a simple skit with Bob Hope, Welch fell and fractured her arm.
