a little gem
gospel05119 August 2005
It is a shame that most people never get to see many of these wonderful silent films. Please, someone consider putting this great version of "A Christmas Carol" out on DVD. How wonderful it would be to see this version with some other silent Christmas films on a DVD for this Holiday season. Even though this 1922 version of "A Christmas Carol" has some missing footage it is still well worth seeing. Once again, i hope some of the quality companies such as Kino or Milestone will consider releasing this. There are so many of the silent classics that have not been seen for a generation or more. This "carol" is one you'll never forget. I'm sure you will find yourself watching it in the Christmas's "yet to come".

One of Many Silent Attempts at Scrooge!
Sylviastel21 December 2011
This is one of many attempts at bringing Scrooge to the screen. 1922 was still in the midst of the silent film genre. While the film is missing parts because of time and erosion. It's still worth noting that it tries to maintain a faithful attempt to the Charles Dickens's story. I would have liked to have known who played the nephew and Bob Cratchit. Of course, the missing scenes may have been more compelling but it can't be helped. The film is only about 10 minutes in my DVD version from the Scrooge diamond anniversary collection of the 1951 classic. Still, it's worth watching for the 10 minutes to see how music, visuals, and acting appeared on screen. The Scrooge here is very good in his performance.
