Sex & Nudity

  • Kwan, Fleegman and Laliari are in a control room where Kwan unleashes the captured rock monster on a group of aliens in another room. After the three watch the attack on the monitor, Laliari starts kissing Kwan passionately in front of Fleegman. During the moment, she starts feeling up Kwan with her tentacles. Eventually, Kwan and Laliari disappear behind the control board, causing Fleegman to comment "Oh that's not right!"
  • There's a visual joke about Nesmith kneeling and bending over to look for his shoes (while only wearing a shirt) and that the four aliens get a view of his bare butt sticking up in the air, but due to our angle we don't see what they do.

Violence & Gore

  • There is a scene where Fred uses the ship's digital conveyor to transport an animal to the spaceship, but the animal has been turned inside out. The animal is spurting up green blood and finally explodes in a gory mess.
  • After boarding the spaceship, Sarris shocks Mathesar (as a means of torture) and then grabs Nesmith by the neck. Moments later, one of Sarris' crew members gutpunches Nesmith, doubling him over. Then they shock Nesmith before Sarris orders the actors into space.
  • We briefly see playback footage of Sarris zapping the Thermians' former commander (and then see the grimaces of those watching the playback). We then see Sarris holding one of his former crew member's reptilian-like head on a stick.

Profanity

  • At least 4 uses of "hell," 3 uses of "damn," 2 uses of "ass," one slang term for breasts ("boobs"), 3 uses of "oh my god," and one use each of "goddamn," "For god's sakes," "Oh god" and "god" as respective exclamations. The word "fuck" is clearly dubbed in one scene with the words "screw that!" There is also one half-use of "shit."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • It is heavily implied that Kwan is high throughout the movie, based on how he acts. In fact, an earlier draft of the script made that fact explicit.
  • Nesmith pours booze from a bottle and we then see him wake up the next morning after having passed out on his living room floor. He then has something of a hangover.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It's possible that the sight of Sarris, his troops, and various other creatures could be somewhat unsettling or even a little scary to some younger kids if they're allowed to watch this movie.
  • The movie's ending has the crew racing against time to save the Thermians, stop the villains, and prevent a core explosion from destroying the spaceship (most of them happened in a comically adventurous manner).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Part of the climax of the movie involves using a (sci-fi gizmo) to undo fatal mistakes, and thus there is initially the impression that terrible things have happened to the characters which may surprise younger viewers. Similarly, the main villain isn't really dead (surprise surprise), and his sudden and threatening reappearance may startle young viewers.
