Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A female corpse is shown in a car with her panties down on her thighs. No nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • All of the deaths in the movie are shown in a photo negative effect. Not gory.
  • The ghost of a woman, whose fingernails are bloody and apparently torn off, crawls towards a man and kills him offscreen.
  • A man blundgeons a woman with a machete and dumps her body in the well (no blood is shown but we hear sound effects).
  • A man suddenly stops and falls onto the floor dead.
  • A teen girl is killed by an unseen force and we see her corpse with her face still twisted in fear.
  • Two teens are mysteriously killed in a parked car whilst another teen dies in a motorcycle accident. These deaths are offscreen and are mentioned by other characters.
  • A woman is implied to have entirely broken off her fingernails whilst attempting to crawl out of a well. We see bloody fingernails embedded along the walls of the well.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The ending, where Sadako crawls out of the TV and kills Ryuji, is pretty scary. The music, slow pace, sudden emergence of Sadako with her bloody fingertips and the way she moves all add to the tension and fear.
  • The main antagonist reveals her grotesque stretched back eye during her partial face reveal. We never see her whole face.
  • The faces of the victims in the film are left with a permanent grim expression of fear.
